Halle doubles?

Why are there so many walkovers and retirements?
http://www.gerryweber-open.de/658.php

Out of 14 matches, there have been 5 walkovers and 1 retirement?..

Re: Halle doubles?

Kiefer: neck not yet well enough, decided to take absolutely no risk for his preparation to Wimbledon
Santoro: injured his thigh in the third set against Safin
Nalbandian: well, I think he didn't have anymore much interest after facing almost disqualification against Schüttler in the first round

And if there is any problem, the choice for most singles performers is relatively easy that they rather miss doubles instead of going out on the court for a doubles match at the possible expense of singles.

Carlos --- C'MON Lleyton!!! --- Kiwi!!! --- Jürgen --- Juan

Best of luck to all Germans : Nicolas Kiefer | Rainer Schüttler | Lars | Florian | Tommy
