To help put Nadal’s remarkable season into perspective: the year is only halfway done, and he is already in elite company.



MATS WILANDER 1983 (turned 19 on Aug. 22)

9 titles!

AO: Winner
RG: Runner-up
Wimb: 3rd round
USO: QF


BJÖRN BORG 1974: (turned 18 on June 6)

7 titles

AO: 3rd round
RG: Winner
Wimb; 3rd round
USO: 2nd round


ANDRE AGASSI 1988: (turned 18 on April 29)

6 titles

AO: did not play
RG: SF
Wimb: did not play
USO: SF


BORIS BECKER1986: (turned 19 on Nov. 22)

6 titles

AO: did not play
RG: QF
Wimb: Winner
USO: SF


RAFAEL NADAL 2005: (turned 19 on June 3)

RG: Winner (on first attempt)

Wilander and Becker won more Slams as teenagers.

Don't worry Nadal will get plenty of credit for this achievement and deservedly so.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".


Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
