Re: Have we seen the best from Murray on clay?

I doubt he'll legitimately contend for the FO, but I think he'll be just behind the top 3 based on his more aggressive approach.

Well he just got to the final of a blue clay slam.

There are still real differences between clay and hard courts, even if that gap has closed to a significant degree. The disparity between Murray's results on clay and his results on hard is proof of that.

Yeah the difference in colour is substantial.

Murray is a much better player since the olympics though. Seems to have more power and stamina.

I guess that explains why he has reached the last 8 of the French Open 3 times in the last 4 years.

Re: Have we seen the best from Murray on clay?

On a more serious point. Murray obviously has a decent clay court game (see his 2011 results, SFs at MC, Rome and RG) but it clearly hasn't been where he has focussed his efforts. Now that he has finally got a grand slam win it will be interesting to see if he focusses on his clay game a bit more. I would be very surprised if he didn't eventually win a Masters Series or two on the surface and while the French Open is unlikely it is not impossible

Re: Have we seen the best from Murray on clay?

I think we'll see him in the final of a Masters 1000 on clay this year. I think he'll play to the semi-finals of Roland Garros, too. However, I'm not ruling out an early exit in one of the clay events this year, though.

So to answer the question, no we haven't seen the best of Murray on clay.

With that girlie forehand and pathetic movement on the surface, the best Pushray can hope for is 250 title on clay. Him making RG semi was the biggest travesty of the open era.

Pathetic draws mostly due to his seeding, but not only this...

I was impressed with the way he played Nadal & Djokovic in 2011. Unfortunately for him his mental game was at a low.
