he pushed nadal in monte carlo alright but thats what he does cause hes a pusher. nadal destroyed him in straights at the french

novak shouldve creamed him in straights too in rome, just got complacent and let him off the hook in the second (where he was a break up). really, you should watch the first set again, just to see how these two matchup on clay.

Novak was too relaxed in set 2 in their Rome match and it almost got away from him....watch set 1 and see what happens when the Novak plays on clay......RG 2012 here we come ......Rafa can take Wimbledon

Murray on clay - Did he really improve? What's wrong with him?

Pre 2011 showed up an Andy Murray who couldn't really play big matches on clay.
Here in MTF, we all remember his loss to Kohlschreiber after receiving a WC, but that wasn't his only disappointing result on clay. He lost in Rome vs Monaco in 2009.

2011 was a different story.
A really different story...

Semis in Montecarlo - Defeating players like Stepanek and Simon and winning a ser over Nadal.
Semis in Rome - almost winning over Djokovic (champion), getting into a 3rs set tiebreak and serving for the match.
Semis in Roland Garros (He didn't defeat any good player here, but still...)

Some people thought 2012 was Murray's clay year.
But, he lost in Montecarlo vs Berdych, in Barcelona vs Raonic and now in Rome vs Gasquet. He didn't reach a SF of any tournament.

So, discuss:

- What's wrong with Murray?
- Did he really improve in 2011?
- What's gonna bring the future?

Re: Andy Murray on clay

Pushray is a nobody on clay. 0 titles/finals.
Hooliganray peaked last year. I predict a bleak future for Mugray. Lendl will give up soon, out of top4 by years end.

Re: Andy Murray on clay

He played 2 good matches in 2011, and at RG probably should've lost to Troicki. Too much expectations based on the mere 2 matches, this is probably his normal self.

“There’s so many athletes, tennis players around the world,” he continued, trying to put his life into some kind of perspective, “they want to be the best in what they do. They want to succeed. Many of them, they don’t succeed in the end. I’m fortunate to have this opportunity and succeed.”

Re: Andy Murray on clay

Clay is the worst surface for Andy but he is not that bad on it. I think he is top 10 on the surface (with Del Potro, Berdych, Ferrer above him and maybe Almagro, Gasquet in a good day like today or the year he led two sets a break against him at RG).
The problem is always the same with Murray : his game is too passive, and this has worst effect on clay where his serve is less effective. As soon as he's against an in-form player who is playing attacking tennis without too many UE's, Murray is in trouble.

Andy Murray on clay. Will he ever win a clay title?

He's 25 and hasn't made a final yet. Came close to doing it last year in Rome when he was 2 points away from beating Djokovic (on his own serve).
He does of course have a Roland Garros QF and SF but that has mostly to do whith eassy draws rather than a good level on clay.

Record on clay against top players:

vs Djokovic 0-2
vs Nadal 0-4
vs Federer 0-0
vs Ferrer 0-3
vs Berdych 0-2
vs Del Po 1-1 (Del Potro retired at 1 set all)
vs Almagro 0-1

Roger Federer | Benoît Paire| Stanislas Wawrinka | Nick Kyrgios
