Are Djokovic and Nadal co-champions for 2013?

As far as I know 1971 was the last time players were considered to be co-champions (Smith and Newcombe).

No!

2 slams > (1 slam+WTF).It has always been that way i believe. If you need a TB then look at their Masters count this year.Nole was remarkably consistent in Slams and that was it.Apart from that,he didn't win a lot of titles to challenge Rafa's dominance.

Re: Are Djokovic and Nadal co-champions for 2013?

Stop with this BS please, its Nadal clearly. Why can the some people accept the fact that Nadal was the better player this year?

Co-champions would have made more sense last year with Djokovic/Fed or even you could argue for Murray as well.

Re: Are Djokovic and Nadal co-champions for 2013?

No. Period, end of discussion.

Imagine the hew and cry if Rafa fans dare to suggest such a thing for 2011, given Rafa was in 3 GS finales, winning 1, losing his #1 ranking and being very strong against every other player.

It'd be a deafening roar of hate.

Do really need to ask? It's Rafa hatred, plain and simple. Certain Fed 'fans' and Djoko fans cannot tolerate giving even an inch of credit to Rafa.

Re: Are Djokovic and Nadal co-champions for 2013?

Nadal won more slams, more masters, their slam h2h and finished the year as #1 despite not even playing AO. Stop this foolishness already.

Re: Are Djokovic and Nadal co-champions for 2013?

Nadal was better proabably, but very very close, not the easy decision most seem to think. Nadal didn't play one Slam and was defeated rather embarrassingly at the other.
As someone said in other thread, Nadal had more glory and he will be remembered as his year, but in terms of overall results, it's close.

Re: Are Djokovic and Nadal co-champions for 2013?

If Djokovic's streak was at the beginning of the season and his crap part was at the end, no one would even be considering this.

Nadal • Federer • Dimitrov • Wawrinka

Ferrer • Murray • del Potro • Tsonga • Raonic • Haas • Kohlschreiber • Verdasco • Monfils

Re: Are Djokovic and Nadal co-champions for 2013?

sorry but overall Djokovic was way less awesome than Nadal

Djokovic lost earlier more often (bar Grand Slams)

Nadal > Djokovic

2 > 1 Grand Slams

5 > 3 Master 1000s

overall more titles

more wins (if only 1 or so matches)

fewer losses ( like 2 less)

it's not really that close, the Masters Cup does not make up for better overall numbers, an extra slam, and multiple more Master 1000s

<3 Roger Federer <3 David Ferrer <3 Juan Martin Del Potro <3 Ernest Gulbis <3

------------------------ <3 Richard Gasquet <3

Re: Are Djokovic and Nadal co-champions for 2013?

No, Nadal only won FO due to Novak's net touch and a bad call in the 3rd set which gave him the break. How on earth can the clay GOAT just barely scrape by Nole playing at 10% and hitting over 70 UE?
As for US Open 2013, Nole was schooling until he played an abysmal game to let Nadal back in. Then it was choking city after he failed to break. Anyone who watched that match commented on it, and I am sure Nadal would admit it. 50% HC Djoker would still school peak Nadal on HC. He did in 2011

One of the worst years in recent memory and Nadal still gets schooled by an injured Steve Darcis? Just brilliant. Still can't believe a few Dulltards voted yes in the Abel troll poll asking if this was Nadal's best year. Shows what you "fans" think of him if you think this is as good as it gets

Says a lot that even this Nole had 3-3 head to head with Nadal and lost FO and Montreal due to petty mistakes and with a hilariously close scoreline In 2011, Novak's peak year, he absolutely destroyed Nadal easily, except for one close match. Even on grass, his weakest surface!

NADAL= Excuses, bending the rules, fluke 2010, weak clay field, classless celebrations, lucky draws, first player to lose 3 consecutive GS finals to the same man, 3 consecutive losses to players ranked outside 100 at Wimbledon including injured Darcis, only beats injured or UE strewn Djoko or Fed, embarrassed by Stronga. VAMOS!

Re: Are Djokovic and Nadal co-champions for 2013?

It'd be nice if we could consolidate all these kinds of threads into a single 'Thread in which bitter Djokotards refuse to accept that 2013 actually happened'.

Agassi | Nadal
Almagro | Coria | Ferrer | Haas | Nalbandian | Nishikori | Robredo | Wawrinka
Bautista Agut | Bellucci | Blake | Dimitrov | Dodig | Ferrero | Fognini | Gasquet | Hewitt | Kohlschreiber | Murray | Raonic | Rosol | Seppi | Tsonga | Tursunov | Verdasco

So if I understand this correctly, Djokovic was the best in 2013 in your "view"?

Re: Are Djokovic and Nadal co-champions for 2013?

Actually, not even 1971 had two co-champions.

Rankings December 6, 1971

Those are unofficial rankings calculated using the official ranking system of 1973 (the first ranking system used).
