Who is the greatest player in the Open Era with one Grand Slam?

People often talk about the greatest player with no Grand Slams at all and the verdict tends to be that player is Nalbandian. However, what about those players who "only" achieved one Grand Slam? A huge achievement of course, but lots of them were players who could've gone on to win more. So, who is the greatest player of the open era with only one Grand Slam?

Del Potro is included in the poll but he will hopefully win more majors so his eligibility is ambiguous.

Re: Who is the greatest player in the Open Era with one Grand Slam?

Ivanisevic for me, but more because of the way he won his only Wimbledon as a WC than anything else. Had he not been a major head case he could've won at least 2 more majors.

Realistically, Roddick had the best career out of all players in the poll but I was never a big fan of his game style.

I wonder how the Raonic of his day would have fared on today's surfaces.

Roddick followed closely by Ivanisevic, then Stich.

If you weight in doubles you can argue Stich as no1

That's a tough question. I'm not sure I'd call Goran 'Raonic of his day' although I know where you are coming from .

By the way, how did you end up in Spain&Mexico and what are you doing there? Chasing sexy Rafa girls ?

Re: Who is the greatest player in the Open Era with one Grand Slam?

Roddick for certain. Unlike these other players he came across prime Federer 24/7. He was actually an amazing tennis player.

If not for Fed he could have easily had at least 6 grand slams.

If you have an issue with a report/infraction, a user, a moderator or just want to talk, PM me.

I support Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, David Ferrer, Del Potro.

Why? Because I love tennis plain and simple

Roddick tops the rest with year-end-no.1, 3 Wimbledon finals and 5 Masters titles.

Del Potro will win more slams, so he'll be better than almost everyone in the poll.
