Re: UNOFFICIALLY: Daniel Gimeno Traver under investigation for match fixing

Some news thanks to https://twitter.com/NachoMuhlenberg

"The player's trial has already happened in London"

"The trial occured some days ago, and will have 10-15 days for the sentence"

"The outcome will be firm. If he's guilty he will make an appeal to the CAS."

"He has been offered to plead guilty and be banned 5 years but he refused to appeal the CAS if necessary."

Btw, the player is not DGT.

Supposedly it's Olaso. Again, not who I'd have picked.

Of course, you never know quite what end of the scale is being talked about. It could be something stupid like putting $50 on a match, just for fun.

Who? How about digging up some old cases and permanently ban active top 100 players like D*******o, K************r, T******v, T********c and G********i, just to name a few.

Oh, just noticed the five years thing was his possibly _reduced_ sentence for co-operating. Must be really serious.

He's not far short of 26 atm, so no surprise he decided to fight it.

Mrrrm, Gabashvil 5-7 6-2 6-2 Olaso in Samarkand?

Doesn't belong on this list IMO. Nothing like any of the others, just a couple maybes.

Just goes to show how bad it was, when 'just' a couple of fixes isn't even something to pay attention to

Or is, I don't really follow it anymore these days. The Guillermo, Martin, Oscar, Christophe, Italian, etc. era was epic, that's for sure.

Aha, that narrows it down. He only actually played 26 main draw challenger matches that year. Seven of those are against well-known fixers, with a 6-1 6-0 win against David Savic in Saransk drawing the eye. Savic was later banned for life after trying to fix a Baghdatis-Dolgopolov match, so it's possibly come out of an investigation into his past. Nothing at all in the market for that one though.

Of the 26, I have oddstracking on about half. Quick search shows no standout massive odds movements, although the books might have pulled the match too quickly for it to show. There's one possible with some moderate repeat action though, where the scoreline and (dodgy) opponent would raise an eyebrow anyway.

Re: Guillermo Olaso under investigation for match fixing, UPDATE: POST #33

Olaso served 5-0 in first set of USO 2nd round and lost 7-5. Did the article say it happened in a challenger or it was a challenger player? I watched this match and he kind of tanked it.

Horacio Zeballos - Maximo Gonzalez - Eduardo Schwank - Carlos Berlocq - Diego Schwartzman - Facundo Bagnis - all the other Argentinos
