Good effort Yevgeny. Serves him right for moaning that tennis players don't get paid enough when he earned about $25 million from it

Ben Affleck is also a poker player. These guys just have the money to play poker, I think they have to pay a couple of thousands to play the pro tournaments.

Kafel has actually won some tournaments.

I've tried watching poker, but it's all foreign to me. Anyone want to give a brief synopsis of how the game is played?

Check this article:

A very popular saying about the game is that Texas Hold’em takes a minute to learn and a lifetime to master.

Re: Yevgeny Kafelnikov's "Success" on the Professional Poker Tour

Eurosport will air more poker this week, tomorrow between 17h15 and 18h15 CET they show the second day of the four day event in Monte Carlo. Actually they already aired it last week and I know the winner, but I won't spoil it for you guys

I couldn't help laughing when I saw Kafelnikov playing, now I know why he needed all those appearance fees: he needed to bank enough to ensure he could play poker for the rest of his life

Rules of the game. You get 2 cards + another 5 open on the table which count for all players. With these 7 cards you can make a pair (2 matching cards, ea two 8s), two pairs (2x2 matching cards), three-of-a-kind (3 matching cards), four-of-a-kind (4 matching cards), straight (five cards in line, ea 4-5-6-7-8), flush (5 cards of the same color, ea all hearts) and full house (pair + three-of-a-kind). Highest hand wins. Trick of the game is you can bet/raise and others won't know if you've really got something good or not, and therefore fold. So you don't always need the best cards to win the game.

Mind you, Kafelnikov did win the first round of poker I think he lost about every round after, though
