Is Murray the only player that can feasibly beat Nadal at Roland Garros?

Of course most people would point to Djokovic as the only potential candidate to dethrone the King of Clay in Paris but can anyone be certain he hasn't been mentally broken after his loss at RG 2013?

Up steps Clayray.

He's the only one with the talent and winning mentality to see it through. But does he have the health?

Firstly, Murray needs to beat Nadal in any clay court event. For the moment, it's logic to say Djokovic is the only player who can beat Nadal at Roland-Garros next year.

Given he couldn't generate power on clay all these other years, I agree.

This kind of thread is why I hate the off-season: the forum gets full of mediocrity and obvious but unfunny trolling.

I agree that Djokovic cannot beat Nadal at Roland Garros. Djokovic had EVERYTHING in his favor in 2013. Nadal was clearly rusty for the first few months as his legs adapted from months of inactivity to the rigors of the tour. Nadal will be a lot sharper on clay in 2014 (as we saw the sharpness of his game in the 2nd half of 2013). So its only going to get more difficult for Djokovic. If anyone is going to beat Nadal at Roland Garros, it will have to be someone who hasn't shown us their prime yet.

Nadal is at the same clay level for about 3 years IMO. Except for the very first 2013 tournaments of course.

Murray did trained a lot on clay as a junior so you never know but seriously there are about 3-4 players that have a better chance than Murray at least for now. He struggles with Ferrer ffs.

Re: Is Murray the only player that can feasibly beat Nadal at Roland Garros?

Yes, his record on clay vs Rafa is amazing, no?

Murray will never win RG. Novak is the only player who can beat a fully fit Nadal in 5 sets.

Fan of the greatest fighter in the history of Tennis - Rafael Nadal. 14 GS, 27 Masters 1000, 1 Olympic Gold Medal.

Greatly respect: Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray.

Past Favorites: Marat Safin, Andre Agassi and Gustavo Kuerten.

Despise: Roger Federer. The dominator of the weakest era in tennis history. Also the man who says "The match is always on my racket against Nadal". H2H 23:10.

The OP shouldn't be allowed to open new threads. He's never started a thread that makes any sense. This one is probably the stupidest one in MTF history.
