The greatest player to have won a title while being injured

Universe man inspired me by saying that Marat hadn't won a single title in 2003.

So who do YOU think is the greatest player to have won a title while being injured?

SINCE THERE'S NO TENNIS ACTION I WENT FOR TONGUE ACTION

Maybe someone can help me here.....
I think Sampras won Wimbledon being injured (in his back, I think....). I`m not sure, I think it was his last Wimbledon title..... But I don´t know......

Re: The greatest player to have won a title while being injured

Agassi almost didn't play RG1999 because of shoulder pain. Because that gives me an excuse to vote for Andre, I'll go with that.

Re: The greatest player to have won a title while being injured

yes lau, that's right, he won wimbledon one year with a pretty bad injury. I honestly forget if it was his back or his shoulder but I remember seeing it on one of the biography specials they did on him last year.

surprise, surprise - Rios at GS Cup

I think for me the most talented of all times was (Marcelo) Rios. Marat Safin, 2004

Marcelo has an enormous talent. Gaudio, RG champion 2004

what about sickness? Didn't Agassi offer to play the Lipton final an hour later to help Pete recover from a stomach bug?

Re: The greatest player to have won a title while being injured

Does Nadal winning at Roma count? Looking at the pictures of his hand that have come out recently it was an amazing effort.

He didnt win the title but Roddick beating Chang at the French Open in 2001 was one of the most incredible efforts Ive seen. He had never played a 5 set match, was cramping like mad in the 5th set and just unleashed off every ball he could and ended up winning the match. Thats when I started liking A-Rod, but he doesn\'t show the same passion anymore

hmmm don't know really...

but what do you consider an injury... sometimes blisters are bad enough to make a player stop playing in a match so.. hmm yeah...

intending to burn - pretending to fight it
