Should there be a "let" rule during rallies as well?

It seems a little counterintuitive to have a let rule for serves but allow them during rallies where you can win a point entirely out of luck. To me, they should either remove it for serves, or add it to rallies in general as well, and replay the point.

Don't you realize how many rallies would have to be replayed if you instated this rule?

No. This will increase the length of a match and also will lessen the drama. Just think about a bad call from umpires which changes the game totally most of the times. Applying 'let' rule during rallies will do the same.

No, it would be stupid to do so

Re: Should there be a "let" rule during rallies as well?

I agree with others, it would be a complete mess. Many rallies would be replayed and just imagine stopping a rally in 20th stroke or so Also how many "ghost lets" there are we don´t see, but they slightly touch the net. If we had to choose between no-let rule on serves and let rule during rallies then definitely the first possibility.

Hell no! Could you imagine how much longer matches would be if this rule was implemented? Not to mention it would lessen the drama in a pretty significant way.

Only hipolymer could come up with possibly the worst question ever. Tennis would quickly become a disjointed snoozefest. Tennis is beautiful when it flows.

They should get rid of the let for the serve.

That was on trial this year, remember? It failed completely. 80% negative reviews.

Be careful what you wish for, since Djokovic always gets a ridiculous amount of lucky netcords.

That´s because 80% of introduced news create negative reviews. People tend to like stereotypes and things they are using/making/seeing/experiencing on a daily basis. For example hawk eye was also highly criticised by players when it was introduced (and the irony is that many of them wanted something like that). When you change something then it just creates a lot of controversy usually.

I say yes!!! How many points during the match are decided by net? 5-10-15? So, that's 15 minutes more, not like it is going to extend the match an hour or something! I think people overreact.
I hate lucky shot personally.
And, offcorse, removing let from serve is damn bad!

What players criticized it? I seem to remember only one that vehemently bitched about it when his challenge was wrong. GOAT of challenges, that one.

Anyway... No. The ball touches the net more often than you think and the sensors often seem overly sensitive. It would take forever to finish a single game between players with low net clearance. The flow of the match would be ruined.
