Houston field vs Barcelona field

You would think that Barcelona is supposed to be head and shoulders better..
But looking at list of quarterfinalists, I would not say so..

Roddick Gaudio
Agassi Ferrero
Haas Nadal
Grosjean Calleri
Blake Davydenko
Lapentti Mirnyi
Melzer Stepanek
Horna Wawrinka

Houston has Agassi and 5 "new balls". 5 players who reached at least semis or better at Slams.

Barcelona has only 2 players who reached semis or better at Slams.

Re: Houston field vs Barcelona field

Wouldn't looking at the respective ranking cutoffs be a stronger indicator as to strength and for Barcelona it would have to be taken at place 23 for a favourable comparison.

Houston at the last direct entry was # 105 Kristof Vliegen
Barcelona with a larger field had the last direct entry # 74 Jan Hernych and he was 43rd on the list.

Oh no! ys was the starter of this thread and I got tricked into answering this seriously. Shame on me.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Houston field vs Barcelona field

barcelona still stronger becos of the upsets and quality if clay courters...reason why houston u have the top runners in quarters is becos the field isn't that strong

Q. As the older player, you don't feel like it's your role to go up to the younger players and talk to them first?

Remember players like Coria and Canas have already lost before the QF's.

And like GWH said, no need to reply seriously to any of that fucker's threads.

Re: Houston field vs Barcelona field

I dunno.. If it is about watching tennis, I prefer Houston. All guys there are explosive shotmakers. They might be not the better clay players, but on this level it does not really matter. I mean, who in Barcelona has a serve of Roddick, has forehand as explosive as Grosjean, backhand as Haas, who takes ball as early as Agassi?

Who's as bald as Agassi above all ...

"I asked a bloke in the front row if he liked the serve-and-volley stuff," said Rafter. "He said he did but asked if he was going to get to see any rallies. 'Not today, mate,' I told him."

I believe saying that the Argentines play the clay-court events because they're poor and need the money is better...?

Re: Houston field vs Barcelona field

Barcelona is so much stronger. No one is Houston really has a good chance of getting too far in Paris. The field in Houston is just too weak.

Go Federer, Nadal!!!

What's wrong about it? Besides I said that not specifically about Argentininians, but also about Spaniards and my countrymen too.. But it is twice true about Argies and Spaniards because most of them will have a jack of a chance to get any far in draws on other surfaces come summer, so they have to make their buck now..
