Inevitable Clash Between Nadal and Fed?

For their second straight tourney, will Federer and Nadal clash in Monte Carlo? If they do, who do you think will win....my money's on Nadal. He beat Roddick on clay and Federer will be his next victim. If Nadal can give him a SERIOUS scare on hardcourts, IMAGINE what he will do to him on clay! GO RAFA!

2005 French Open Champ- Rafael Nadal!

Re: Inevitable Clash Between Nadal and Fed?

What does Roddick have to do with anything?

I think it will be pretty much 50/50. Federer's greater winning mentality will probably give him the edge. When he is in semifinal against the best players he wants to proof something and his form peaks at this part of the tournament. He will win the important points and fight back if it is needed. He knows how to play against NAdal, not how to win, but how to play effective tennis against Nadal.

Prediction for the rest of the decade:
Federer winner: Usopen 05, 06, 07, 09 Aopen:06, 07, 10 Roland GArros:06, 08 Wimbledon:05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10 (Roddick always runner up)
Safin winner: Aopen 08 Gasquet winner: USopen 08, Aopen 09, RG: 10
Nadal winner: RG 07 Monfils winner: USopen 10
Guga winner: RG 2010
Roddick and Hewitt together winner of: 3 sidney, 4 Adelaide, 3 washington, 3 san jose, 3 indianapolis, 2 houston, 2 memphis, 5 queens and one master series title (where Safin, Agassi, Federer and Nadal happens to all be injured).

Re: Inevitable Clash Between Nadal and Fed?

Well Nadal has to get by Gaudio first, who is 3-0 against him. This includes a win on clay this year. But if Nadal does get by Gaudio, I think Federer will win. I think Federer learned how to play Nadal last time they met. I don't think Federer is going to press so much as he did. It should be close though. I'd love to see it happen.

Re: Inevitable Clash Between Nadal and Fed?

Except Safin, Federer hasn't lost a semifinal or final in 1 and a half years and has won the tournament 16 out of the 17 last times he has been to semifinals.

So it will require something exceptional from Nadal to beat Federer, much like Safin in AO.

Prediction for the rest of the decade:
Federer winner: Usopen 05, 06, 07, 09 Aopen:06, 07, 10 Roland GArros:06, 08 Wimbledon:05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10 (Roddick always runner up)
Safin winner: Aopen 08 Gasquet winner: USopen 08, Aopen 09, RG: 10
Nadal winner: RG 07 Monfils winner: USopen 10
Guga winner: RG 2010
Roddick and Hewitt together winner of: 3 sidney, 4 Adelaide, 3 washington, 3 san jose, 3 indianapolis, 2 houston, 2 memphis, 5 queens and one master series title (where Safin, Agassi, Federer and Nadal happens to all be injured).

Re: Inevitable Clash Between Nadal and Fed?

well, wouldn't it be more proper to start that discussion if say Nadal was playing Hanescu tomorrow and not the guy who owns him 3 times on clay apart from everything else? keep it up though

p.s. Ferrero is spelled Ferrero and not Fererro.....unless you like it better this way

did you just use the fact that nadal beat andy on CLAY as a reason that he should beat fed??? sorry i'm an andy fan but i still find that hyterical! hell mardy beat andy on clay last week, so you really can't use that as a reasoning. Fed is better on clay than andy by a mile (and i don't like fed at ALL)

the argument you should be using much more as you say is the fact that turtle gave fed a hell of a scare on hardcourts and turtle is a, better on clay than he is on hardcourts and b, fed is worse on clay than he is on hardcourts.

but still i think you're getting ahead of yourself! they'r enot playing each other yet.

Good Luck to my boys

Roger was 16-2 on clay in 04.

His all-world abilities cannot be under-estimated.

Re: Inevitable Clash Between Nadal and Fed?

He'll have to get by Gaudio 1st, which certainly will be difficult, and Federer has to beat Gasquet before we can even begin to talk about this match.

IF they meet again, i want Roger to win, but clay helps the boy more than the man.

Re: Inevitable Clash Between Nadal and Fed?

SIGH.

I would take Fed as the heavy favourite in his match. Nadal is at best 50% to win his.

And Nadal won't win RG this year.

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

Re: Inevitable Clash Between Nadal and Fed?

Ferrero will win RG this year.

It's going to be Gasquet vs. Nadal in the semifinal, so stop talking about this Federer matchup.
