Petange CH F: Kamke d. Mathieu 1-6 6-3 7-5

Tough loss for Paulo. Didn't see the first set, Kamke broke early in the third and led 3-0*, Mathieu broke back in Kamke's next service game only to get broken at 4-3* iirc. Kamke was really painint the lines at times. PHM managed to hold in his fist service game in the third, I think he had a 0-30 and then led 2-1*, a very long game in which Kamke saved some BPs with some nice shots, many FH DTL. PHM had to save another difficult situation mid-way into the 3rd set when Kamke had a 15*-40 opportunity thanks to a great CC BH return that had him in control of the rally but couldn't convert the BPs, PHM played a clutch game. Kamke was holding serve without too many problems too and finally PHM got broken at 5-5 I think he also throw in a DF (he hit quite a few), at 30*-40 there was a tough rally that Kamke resolved with a FH winner. PHM threw his raquet in hanger and Kamke held serve easily to win the match.

PHM will play Sijsling in Metz, he got a WC.

Shame for Paulo, this would have been a confidence booster. Still, I think he should beat Sisjling in Metz.

Good week overall for both players. Each defended his Defended pts from last year. PHM has a habit of tightening up/losing concentration after winning the first set. It's harder to come back when you do that against good players like Kamke. Kamke's ball bashing style works well on fast indoor hard and PHM just doesn't quite have the movement to get to a lot of those shots. Still, a loss to Kamke on this surface, in a very close match shows PHM can still play decent top 50-100 tennis. I hope he sticks around another year.

Shame, PHM should've won this, he needs to be back in top 100 asap, he doesn't deserve to be on the place he is right now.
