Nadal: Playing the Masters Cup every year on indoor hard is not fair

From his interview http://www.usopen.org/en_US/news/int...782609450.html

''Yeah, is something that is I feel that I am very unlucky, that all the Masters Cup that I played was in indoor hard. Is a tougher surface for me to play well. Is not the day to say, but is something that I feel that is not fair. Because at the end, you qualify for the last tournament of the season when the best eight players are playing on outdoor, playing in indoor, hard, outdoor hard, playing on grass, playing on clay, so why the last tournament of the season should be every, every year on indoor hard? Even if I understand that you play in a city that in that moment have to be indoor. Why we cannot play every year in a different surface? Not every year in the same surface that gives probably equal opportunities to all the players who gets qualified in all surfaces.''

Playing the French Open every year on clay is not fair.

He can have literally everything fixed for him and it's still not enough. Fake fans, fake media love, fake rules, fake records, fake humility, Don Tony (who obviously told him to say this while he works on a rotating WTF behind the scenes) is a true criminal mastermind who wants the whole world.

Gawd....did he really say this? He gets the slowed courts everywhere, the higher bouncing fluffier heavier balls everywhere, his routine infringements of the rules of the game completely ignored....demands less HC and more clay at every opportunity....a two year ranking system to protect him....and now he wants the YEC to be held somewhere else because he doesn't like that either. STFU!!

Thank you.

Only feels that way because he hasn't won it. If it was on clay I am sure he would have no problems with it.

Don't worry Rafa ... I am sure they will somehow give you a couple or rig the draws so you get it. We are literally watching the biggest hoax in the history of sports happen in front of our eyes. So many questions about Rafa's career in my mind.

Re: Nadal: Playing the Masters Cup every year on indoor hard is not fair

A new level of craziness in this thread.

I've ALWAYS hated the WTF. I really don't like indoor tennis at all. I hate the sound of it, the look of it -- everything. So fine. Some people like it. Whatever. But why can't we have the WTF in some southern hemisphere city and play in the sunshine and be happy instead of some place cold and miserable? I've wanted this forever, but it's not happening apparently.

Too bad that he's the only one who feel the most uncomfortable with that surface.

Would I like it to be changed? Yes

Would I care if Rafa dominated it? No

Re: Nadal: Playing the Masters Cup every year on indoor hard is not fair

Truth coming from Nadal. It's about time ATP mixes things up with a lottery at the beginning of the tour year to choose any of the four surfaces: indoor hard, outdoor hard, clay, or grass. Lottery guarantees fairness. This will only encourage better all around play from the top guys - benefits tennis.

Sure. Nadal's point is also a fair point coming from other players complaining about clay. The point stands despite who says it.

He makes an interesting point, one I hadn't thought of before, but I disagree.

The Year End has always been indoors, and it should stay like that.

Don't worry Rafa, they will slow it down for you soon! Maybe even this year.

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.
