1) Today was a semi final
match. Of course that record doesn't include today. He had already beaten Kenneth Carlsen [#8 seed, straight sets], Anthony Dupuis and Fernando Gonzalez [#2 seed, very good claycourt player]. By the way, in qualifying he had beaten Guillem Burniol, Albert Portas [TMS Hamburg winner a few years ago.. Claycourt player, who he only lost 5 games against] and fellow Spaniard and claycourt player Oscar Serrano.
2) He is by no means a rookie. He has been around in Futures and Challengers for years, having excellent results on clay, and poor results on any other surface.
