Rafael Nadal to switch Nationality
From BBC Sport Teletext
18 year-old Nadal, born in Manacor in Mallorca, will today officially switch nationality, thus representing his chosen country in Davis Cup competition in future. Some might say it is an odd move, but for Nadal, it seems to make complete sense, and in his words "I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner. I want to honour my grandparents in the best way possible."
Nadal will now be an official citizen of Cameroon, the country in which is grandparents were born and raised, before moving to Gibraltar, and having his parents in Spain.
"I wish to thank the Spanish authorities, in particular the tennis association, for all the support and experience they have given me. I now relish the opportunity of playing under the flag of Cameroon, and bringing something to the nation."
