Oliver Rochus was his doubles partner when they were juniors.
They won Wimbledon together, didn't they?
In the first set Ollie fought through 5 set points.
A great player, he had a very good USO 04 and AO 05.
Miami (BBC) - World number one Roger Federer required 71 minutes to book his place in the third round of the Nasdaq-100 Open with a 6-3 6-1 win over Olivier Rochus
.
Federer powered 12 aces to brush aside the diminutive Belgian, who beat the tour's tallest player, Ivo Karlovic, in the opening round.
The Swiss will play Mariano Zabaleta in the next round.
Elsewhere, 10th seed Joachim Johansson was beaten in straight sets by unseeded American Jeff Morrison.
Nicolas Kiefer lost out in the all-German clash, beaten comfortably 6-4 6-2 by Florian Meyer.
Victor Hanescu took the opening set with ease against Taylor Dent but had to concede the match through injury whilst trailing 4-0 in the decider.
Last year's runner-up Guillermo Coria safely negotiated his opening match against Davide Sanguinetti, beating the Italian 6-1 6-4.
Argentina's Coria had to retire from last year's final against Andy Roddick with back pains caused by kidney stones.
Roddick retired from the tournament on Friday with a wrist injury.
Okay, whoever wrote the original post in this thread needs to go edit it and change the title to 'A 9 page debate about useless threads in GM' or someone else is going to think this is a thread about Roger.
This board does not have a whole lot of 'rules' so to speak. So how about this...
SENSIBLE, INTELLIGENT people agree amongst themselves not to post unnecessary and non-newsworthy match threads in GM.

I really hope ppl start complaing too, if someone starts a thread about Roddick def. XYZ 62 63 or Hewitt def. someone or Coria or Ferrero or Safin or who ever.
I see it comming, sometime will everyone get smashed for starting a thread with Federer in it. This will get some ppl.s new hobby.
What the hell is going on up in MTF? We have people telling other people where to shove their threads...If people want to post endless threads about a player or players that's on them...unless the admin has a problem w/ the posters or the threads. I say find another tennis forum or make your own...then u can post YOUR rules on how and what people can do.
I love how people love to change peoples behavior when it suits them. These are some of the same people who start bad repping members for bs reasons... Give me a f***ing break!!
I'm surprised to see so many pages of this thread What's the heck there to talk about the match? Is it that just recently all Roger related threads were sniffed off by the so-called intelligent posters? ......Then I came to realize, oh yes, maybe this one is another bashing thread. Well I'm right, but I'm also wrong to come in hoping to find some fun here
Pls if anyone thinks whichever thread is stupid or meaningless, start your own one. Don't just sit back and comment with sarcastic ease on anyone who is making effort to try to vitalize this forum whatever effort it is or whether you like it or not.
And, what do you expect to see in GM during a tournament? Remember a big tournament is well in progress. Every victory by anyone is NEWS...come on...though I'm not saying to start such a Roger thread is nothing but sensible. But what's all the blame for?
I'm being rather stupid to reply to the thread myself

I just have this funny image of someone posting a 'Federer d. Morrison 6-1 6-1' thread and absolutely no one responds. 10,000 posters and not one response. It just scrolls away, lingering somewhere out there in limbo, waiting for a comment
I agree though, who cares if they post these threads? I mean really, Rochus 3 and 1, there doesn't seem to be too much to say. I found my way here through searching someone else's posts. Still, I don't mind it though. If people enjoy posting about Roger's thrashings, then more power to them
Well then they should complain when other match threads are posted. Can't have it both ways Federer haters.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
