Re: safin def labadze 64 26 76

This is where Safin really needs to concentrate. He really does not have any threats in his part of the draw. If he can really get himself together, we could have ourselves a Federer/Safin match, but it all really depends on how far Marat can go. If he plays well and gets to the the semis, he has got a really good chance.

Go Federer, Nadal!!!

Re: safin def labadze 64 26 76

phew!!!!!! it looked close there for a minute (judging from the scoreboard)

Q. When you've played as few matches as you have over the last two, three months, did you ever lack motivation to go out and practice?

ANDY RODDICK: Motivation? No. I enjoy what I do. I enjoy what I do. You know, I've never been one to, you know, blow off practice or, you know, do anything like that.

You know, I'd be lying if I said I'm looking forward to practicing the next two days as opposed to playing here. That part is gonna suck...(2010 Aegon Championships)

Re: safin def labadze 64 26 76

That match was close! But Safin found in Labadze a bigger choker than him. Not that he's actually a choker, but his mentality is pretty much questionable. From the stats it doesn't look like he played a good match.

Better luck against Hrbaty. Should not be a problem, though. After a tough match against Rochus, he defeated Hrbaty quite easily.

rue, Safin could meet Ljubicic in his semifinal, so I guess he should take care all the way through the tournament since he's not capable of breezing when he should.

Safin better shape up, he hasn't really been playing that good of tennis this year, except for AO.

Yeah, that section is nice. Although Monfils doesn't seem ready yet to beat a Safin, it would still be a fun match to watch if he gets by Lee. If he does, I hope it get televised .

Safin - Ljubicic would be interesting too, if both are playing well.

Re: safin def labadze 64 26 76

The thing is with Safin, as we all know he can struggle one day against an okay player and destroy a top player then next day.

Just think back to Marat at the US Open in 2000:

Guardiola in 4 sets
Pozzi in 5 sets
Grosjean in 5 sets
Obliterates Ferrero in 3 sets
Kiefer in 4 sets
Martin in 3 sets
Crushes Sampras in 3 sets

Marat is inexplicable.

Yeah I agree, but Ivan and Federer are in consistant form, and I think Safin should start preparing mentally for them now, instead of match time.

Re: safin def labadze 64 26 76

The reason is absolutely no player fears Safin at all and rightly so, what's to fear exactly? Anyone can play him straight up. He's 6-6 with Hrbaty who he plays in the next round, I doubt Hrbaty is shaking in his boots.
