2013 MTF Top 10 Favourite Commentators Thread

Following on from Eden's Top 10 Favourites threads, and Action Jackson's Top 10 least favourite thread, I would like to do the same, but for commentators rather than players. For me great commentary can make the whole experience of watching a match on the TV even better, and I would like to see what guys MTF members think are the best at the job.

Rules:

Name at least 5 commentators or votes won’t count.

It would be much appreciated if you would include reasons for your decisions but it’s not a requirement.

Of course you can only vote once for the same commentator.

Please make sure before you are going to vote if you have already mentioned the commentators before.

It's easy to check if you have already posted in a thread: Just click on "search this thread", advanced search and write down your name under "search by user name".

Here is how the points will be distributed:

#1 = 10
#2 = 9
#3 = 8
#4 = 7
#5 = 6
#6 = 5
#7= 4
#8= 3
#9 = 2
#10= 1

Enjoy voting

Re: 2013 MTF Top 10 Favourite Commentators Thread

1. Robbie Koenig - great delivery, comes out with some memorable lines. Also good when he puts his analyst hat on.
2. Jim Courier - knows when to let a match speak for itself. Insight into what players will be going through mentally.
3. Mark Petchey - great at technical analysis. Just don't let him do Murray matches, he's too much of a tard.
4. Sam Smith - she knows her stuff technically, great attention to detail.
5. Johnny Mac - good delivery. However too often he opens his mouth before engaging brain, so you have to filter out 80-90% of it.

It was a struggle to name 5 good 'uns. Fleming, McMillan and Shiras are acceptable but don't give that much insight.

Andy Murray

Tsonga, Wawrinka, Haas, Sock, Thiem, Muller, Kyrgios, Stepanek

Re: 2013 MTF Top 10 Favourite Commentators Thread

1. John McEnroe = GOAT with GOAT voice and tennis knowledge and knows who the GOAT is
2. Robbie Koenig = Oh stop it
3. Jim Courier
4. Jason Goodall
5. Marcella Mesker = Dutch commentator, she's decent.
6. Tim Henman = COME ON TIM
7. Patrick McEnroe = Family of the GOAT commentator
8. Boris Becker = A lot of cliches, but I'd miss him if he wasn't there during Wimbledon
9. Greg Rusedski = If he doesn't choke on his own tongue, that is
10. Andrew Castle = Fuck you, Castle, you're horrible. Pity vote and I couldn't let this opportunity slide to rant about that excuse for a tennis commentator

11. Simon Reed, LOL

RAFAEL NADAL

'Rafael Nadal is the best ever' - John McEnroe
