Montreal R1: Nishikori def. Polansky 4-6 6-4 6-2

PP was the better player early on and did well to grab the first set, the lob landing on the baseline to bring up 2 SPs. Kei obliged with the DF. Canadian broke early in the second but gave it straight back when Kei was there for the taking.

Kei took a set and a half to get into some sort of rhythm from the baseline. Several service games became ordeals with random DFs. On my report card Samurai scrapes a C-

Nishikori was very fortunate with the draw. If he plays like this against Seppi, he'll be routined.

Polansky choked it away and Nishikori was awful again.. not sure what is wrong with either honestly, this was not a good quality match

Looked like Polansky never really believed he could win. The way he handed back his service game after going a set and break up spoke volumes.

Hi

Terrible match from Kei, 42 UEs and that seems to me like a very generous stat. His tournament will be over tomorrow against Seppi if he doesn't step up massively, he was lucky to face one of the worst players in the draw and even then he wasn't that far from losing.

He's two wins away from breaking the top 10 (or one if Gasquet loses to Klizan), but if today's level is any indication, Project 10 will have to be delayed.

Re: Montreal R1: Nishikori def. Polansky 4-6 6-4 6-2

I don't know whats up with kei but he's just been in atrocious form for the longest time. He did get lucky but I'll take the win and hope and pray he wakes up for a rematch with seppi

I wonder if its possible project 10 is in his head. I remember it took him a while to achieve the last project and its the same thing here but this one means so much more

Too bad Polansky couldn't pull off the win.

All of the young players in horrible form.

Nishikori, Raonic, Goffin, Tomic, Berankis, Harrison

The only "young gun" from that photoshoot capable of winning seems to be Dimitrov, and barely even then. Hopefully Delbonis, Carreno-Busta, and Vesely step up soon.

I'm not sure why Kei is struggling so much but I'm a bit worried. Hopefully he'll pick it up as the tourney goes along.

I didn't watch it. It was too late.
I don't understand what's going with him. 42 UEs in 28 games. Polansky doesn't have great shots.
Is there somewhere full match?

Sadly, no matter how poorly Kei's playing, this result was pretty much NID.
