Close match, but Benoit was better in the big moments.

Montreal R1: Paire def. Kohlschreiber 7-6 (1) 7-5

We all know what a unique mug Benoit is but Kohlschreiber is definitely some special species of mug.

Re: Montreal R1 Paire def. Kohlschreiber 7-6 (7-1) 7-5

Second set was typical Paire, breaks to take control and then just implodes for no reason, looked like he wanted to completely blow it but Kohlschreiber made a stupid miss at 15-30 on Paire's serve at 3-3 I think and after that I just didn't think he'd win, the way he got broken at 5-5 was idiotic.

BS! Paire started the 2nd set very badly but managed to save Kohli's bp with some great serves and he even got the break at 2 all. Then Kohli played a great return game to break back imeadetly. From then on it was a close fight. Yes the german made 2 Df's at 5 all but did you not see how good Benoit was returning? There was a lot of pressure on Kohli's 2nd serve.

Roger Federer | Benoît Paire| Stanislas Wawrinka | Nick Kyrgios

Yup. Why does one player always have to be a mug on here? Paire is brainless at times but undeniably has bags of talent - it was a close match but at big moments Paire just got the better of him - as you said I'd like to see his 2nd serve win% because Paire was on it hence the DF's.

Seems sometimes on here certain people prefer to put players down rather than say 'yeah fair play, he was the better player'

I think you're just a lot more optimistic about it than I am

Paire was imploding as soon as he was broken back, it had nothing to do with Kohli playing well Paire just started blasting shots everywhere on Kohli's next service game, then on Paire's next service game Kohli made an inexcusable miss at 15-30 and his chance to actually take control of the match was gone.

And I don't know how people can excuse 2 df's in a row at 40-30 5-5 as something other than being a mug, credit to people for being optimistic.

That's Paire for you - I think imploding is a big word really he settled back down and didn't get broken - Paire often does that anyway as he is mentally unstable. And yes Kohli did mug it at 5-5 40-30 but Paire was the better player at big moments in the match - it was a tight match as I said but at key moments Benoit Paire has better mental strength than Kohli - oh god
