If winning the event wouldn't actually put him in the top 10 after the improved year he's had plus 1000 points from an MS, then the ranking system is simply corrupt.
That's nonsense. Gulbis has gone beyond the round of 16 at exactly 1 tournament this year, and that was a 250 (Delray beach). His season is good for his standards but still very mediocre, to the point where winning a Masters 1000 wouldn't and shouldn't make him top 10.
Gulbis fans not only overrate his potential, they also overrate his previous performances
That said, he would be most likely top 15 if he won Montreal (not happening of course).
