Vancouver CH F: Pospisil def Evans 6-0 1-6 7-5

The better and more talented player lost this match. Disgusting choke from Evans who blew 3 MPs.

Pospisil served 2 aces and one huge first serve winner on those match points.

This is just a hugely disappointing match. Dan was broken from 40-15 up when he was leading 4-2 and then got broken from 30-0 up, losing 4 points in a row after having 3 match points at 5-4.

just an opportunity lost for him really

*4-2 40-15 is when he really mugged it up.

Yeah, should have put the volley away there.

Still a huge week for him and after the pathetic match he played at Lexington the previous week it was a massive turnaround.

Don't think Pospisil is being given enough credit here . Evans had 3 match points but only 1 at a time . This is a big move forward for Dan . Wouldn't be surprised if he goes back to playing British Futures lol .

Novak Djokovic .

3 Wimbledons
2 US Opens

Entertaining match.

Evo really blew it though.

His strategy of taking less than 2 seconds between points looks like suicide sometimes.

he did well to save those match points but lets be honest here dan was the better player for most of the 2nd and 3rd sets . He played 2 really shirt service games though, 1 at the worst possible time and that allowed vasek to come back and win

Pospisil is going to be ranked something like 75 after this which is quite laughable considering the players he's beaten to pick up most of his points.

Was just about to post the same. Now that he is ranked this high it will be interesting to see how he schedules. To this point in his career the majority of his success has come in weak Canadian challengers. Right now is no different, just throw in a hilariously weak 100k in Joburg and what was essentially a challenger in Bogota.

Pospisil is perhaps the one player I've never seen play 'well'. I honestly don't see a bright future for him, unless he can develop his ground-strokes a great deal. The serve, while not being impressive today, is obviously a great weapon but not top class.

Evans, well I'll refuse to believe he's turned the corner until I see him string two decent results together. He's got the chance to in Aptos.

Joking aside, this just isn't going to happen. Dan got into an epic rut playing British futures but he is clearly out of it and no way is he going back to that.

Completely agree. A great week here counts for nothing if he mugs out against Krueger in Aptos R1. Tennis is a brutal sport and to succeed you have to be mentally there day in day out and week in week out.
