Question Random question(s) about Yevgeny Kafelnikov

I just dont know about him.
I only saw like, 6 matches of him, & he lost like, almost every one of them.

I wasnt too impressed with what i saw, especielly the serve. His shots seemed just... Solid, not #1 (a spot which he once conquered).

I just wanna know, for the more "veteran" tennis fans, how was he at his prime?

Does he have, like, one big shot? Or is he just solid?

Tennis, Ergo Sum.

he just doesn't have the belief anymore

at his best Zhenya was breath-taking

his BH DTL was his speaciality

now his serve is no where near as good, his shots lack penetration, but his belief in himself is what is lacking crucially

Belief or lack of interest? He's accomplished his goal of making a pot of money from tennis...23million Us, more than Agassi...I think he's the #1 earner from tournament only, not endorsements. He would love to win DC, but he can't suddenly pull himself together after a year (maybe more) of mediocre tennis. Maybe the doubles tomorrow will inspire him...and he'll have Safin to work with. Maybe it's time to live a life of leisure in Sochi. He wants DC so much...but it can't be Safin only who wins it.

YK is a very solid consistent player, he has a good backhand too, I saw him win the AO in 99 and get to the final in 2000, and that was the best i'd seen him play, he was just amazing. He could have had a better career if he kept up his best form all the time.

Dominik Hrbaty? There are probably six alphabets that spell that, and it's legend. Dominik is Dominik and he's a legend in every little town, city and village across the globe.

He doesn't only stand for our sport, but he stands for mankind. His athleticism, him as a person, as a human being, his character, to go out and do things his way, is just fantastic. And that is the charm about Dominik Hrbaty.

I think the strength of Kafelnikov at his prime was that he didn't have any weakness, all his shots were very solid, and that's why he has won titles on all surfaces. He hasn't accomplished more IMO because he hasn't always taken the right decisions in his career, he overplayed too much (more than Dokic will ever do), and sometimes he lost in 5 or 6 1st rd in a row without taking a break to re-evaluate his game.

I hope he wins DC this weekend...it's amazing that the french are always in the final without having THAT good players...
