OK..which idiot selected this court for the USA

I've been watching the Davis Cup since friday and from point #1 I just cant believe the USA would pick what looks and plays like a freaking claycourt. The USA should have selected a court like the freaking US Open where the balls fly and where Roddick and Agassi can overpower their opponents. This court they playing is so too slow.

The point was to slow Ancic and Ivan down.

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

Well.. I'm seeing no advantage for the USA. I say go for the super fast court and let Agassi and Roddick play their games.

Considering the form that Ivan was in coming in, I don't think that would have been such a hot idea. You don't want to put either Ivan or Mario on the slick stuff if you don't have too.

On paper, the court selection makes sense

It really doesn't matter what court they chose as far as everyone but Agassi is concerned. Agassi is by far the best player of these on clay.

But a faster court wouldn't hurt Ljubi or Mario at all. Have you not seen their serves?

I wouldn't back Andre to beat both of these guys on clay. Ivan and Mario aren't shit on clay themselves, they can actually move on it. Ivan beat Ferrero on clay Mario nearly beat Andre on clay years ago

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

Never mind the court. I'm all for keeping DC matches out of California from now on. Tennis is obviously not their thing; this crowd is quiet, lame, and boring.

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

Even if he did - and I doubt that he would, this is the man who couldn't fight his way through Jerome Haehnel, clay courter extrordinaire at RG last year - clay is Roddick's worst surface. Clay would have made NO sense whatsoever. It would have been absolutely boneheaded to put the Croats on clay.

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

Re: OK..which idiot selected this court for the USA

Agassi would be the favorite but he's not hot shit on any surface lately.

He's lost some sparkle.

Re: OK..which idiot selected this court for the USA

I think they are too lazy to find a clay court in So. Cal....
Also with the Indian Wells being held in a couple of days, is it possible that they were being concerned over choosing the same type of surface also used in Indian Wells? I'm not even sure how fast or slow the court plays over there, but I'm just curious.

mario and ljubo are both at their worst on clay. takes ljubo's only weapon away from him. think roddick could have got one win against them on it. who knows. but thanks for calling me a bonehead
