It'll be the ultimate undeserving vulture story for the ages.

Exactly. Haters gonna hate but the fact that some people don't like his game is totally irrelevant. He has results to sustain that position.

Ferrer just has to make a decent showing and enter a random clay tournament to make to the #2 spot, right? Craaazy.

Pretty shameful stuff if this does happen. It would be nice to see him get a tough draw for once... just saying.

Agree about the rest though, although the ranking system being a joke isn't exactly breaking news. It doesn't matter, he can vulture whatever ranking he wants, he still be inferior to every player with a Slam.
You are a piece of work.

Federer: Future number one.

Fed vs Rafa

Wimbledon: 7-2
U.s open: 5-2
AO: 4-1
FO 1-9
WTF: 6-0
Weeks at number one: 302-140(about)

Really no contest

Well he drew Nadal in Rome and Madrid back to back in his best surface, if that didn't happen he would be for sure just be 1000 points off Murray coming into Wimbledon.

True, but he's had a bunch of comfortable draws in the recent majors. Admittedly he only made as far as he did in AO due to Almagro's epic choke.

Re: David Ferrer can become world number two before Rogers Cup

I go by facts the year (2010) Ferrer jumped into the top 8 in the start of him being one of the best.

He had 7 top 10 wins and players that finished ahead of him Murray had 5 top ten wins, Soderling had 6, Berydch had 6.

This was his points, he got the points mostly from masters and 500 events.

Of course Ferrer can become number 2, this era is an absolute joke.

If it's purely physical and you're watching someone playing six-hour matches over and over and showing no signs of being tired, you'd look at that. - Andrew Barron Murray OBE

And Murray only won Miami because Ferrer choked. He only lost to Nadal on Madrid because Ferrer choked. choking is part of the game. How many times had Murray benefited from this. Nieminen last year's french. Ferrer in Wimbledon 2012, when he got tight in important moments. Federer has been the other end of it as well, so had Nadal and Djokovic. How come they are not criticized. Federer in 2012 Wimbledon, he benefited from a struggling Benneteau, del Potro in olympics. Luck, mental toughness, and fitness is part of the games

That wasn't really my point. I was saying that tournament was good for Ferrer because he progressed further than he really should have.

Ferrer being unable to take his chance against a Murray playing at <50% capability in that Miami final is precisely the sort of thing that makes me think him being ranked 2nd in the world would be a total joke.
