Djokovic is a two touch down favorite for me based on his draw. But he has lost to Murray on grass before and threw Rafa a bone at RG. This #1 of ours is really merciful. If he had beaten Rafa, we all know Rafa would be skipping the next 3 slams. That's what he always does after embarrassing defeats.

I'd advise him to retire and save face. The longer he plays the game the worse his legacy will become.

Anyone think this is actually a bad move for fed? Every time i saw him BH slice he would lose the point. Did anyone else notice this?

So, you still think it's hopeless and he should not even try?

Nadal has a very strong passing shot. So coming to the net is risky. At Roland Garros Djokovic came also a couple of times to the net and than Rafa answered with incredible passing shots. Of course grass is different than clay. But even on grass his passing shots are very effective. I wouldnt give Fed the advise to come to the net every first serve. I would rather advise him to use it as a surprise element. Sometimes coming to the net on first serve, sometimes not. And maybe sometimes as a surprise even go for chip and charge on Nadals second serve.

Let's hope Rafa can even make it in quarters. He has proven to be a bum on anything but clay in slams lately.

He needs to serve well. He must hit the backhan down the line well. He MUST hit his approach shots effectively. He must hit over his backhand return no matter what.

I wouldn't call it throwing Nadal a bone. He is closer to beating Nadal on clay than ever. Nothing but pure luck made Nadal win that match, but his luck will soon run out.

I think Fed could shock a few of you here. We'll have to see how the courts are playing by then.....Fed's form....how Nadal is holding up from such a heavy clay season etc. Think he would have a great chance though.

Chances are, one of them will fall before they meet....

Yup, stopping NAdal from catching his slam record and improving his h2h to 3-1 over Nadal on grass would be

The big if is Federer's and Nadal's grass form and whether it will go outdoor or indoor.

As for now, this match seems a 50/50 with no clear favorite.
What must Nadal do to become the favourite than? He reached the final of every tournament he played since his comeback. Yes, grass is different than clay. But Indian Wells was also not on clay, but on hard court. And he won that as well. It is just amazing how he came back after a long injury. Of course it will depend on the form of the day. But looking to the last months the form is very good.
Federer on the other hand is palying so far the worst year since a very long time. I do think he can improve. And win something. But is does not look like it right now.
At this moment Nadal is full of confidence, while Federers confidence is probably much lower. Altough Wimbledon may give him a little bit extra confidence.

I remember people used to post the GIF of Rafa pointing to the net on that point Nole gifted to him a lot. People stopped doing that ..

Re: should federer and nadal meet (no merge please)

Look. This is Wimbledon. Fed lives for this tournament. He is not going there to lose in the quarters. He had a confidence building win in Halle. He'd wana make at the very least semis at Wimby. He will do whatever it takes to beat Nadal. No way Nadal is getting a free pass to the semis, like he got to the Rome title. This could potentially be a huge win for Roger.
