What clay? This is not an era of specialists so that you can separate each surface and measure. Also Nadal was not clay GOAT in 2005. So your premise is faulty to begin with. He eventually proving better than everyone over clay has nothing to do with what he was in 2005. Federer was 4 time Grandslam champion when Nadal won his first RG crown and 7 time champion when Nadal lifted his second title at RG.

Federer is, by far, the most successful player in tennis history. Anyone claiming anything different is simply silly/stupid and delusional.

Using that h2h with Fed is getting old and boring. It's also not Fed's fault that Nadal wasn't able to get to the latest rounds of HC slams to actually meet Fed. Nowadays, it's irrelevant as Roger is getting older and Nadal is still in his prime.
Nadal is still in his prime? Thanks for your contribution in this thread.

of course he is still in his prime, he is 27yo not 87. I'm also very suspicious when it comes to 'his injury/knee stuff' ... you don't win tournaments/reach finals if you are 'injured' ... but of course Rafa is always a 'little bit' injured whatever that means

Look Boy in case you dont understand Roger is not a clay great so Rafa beating Roger on clay doesn't earn him any points !!. On the other hand he beat Roger in 2008 Wimbledon he earns points because Roger was a 5 time defending champion. Roger plays Hard court Tennis on clay. Rafa didn't beat any past All time Great Champs in RG (you know the ones who have more than 1 RGs) in any of his RG victories.

Rafa isn't 35, he's 27. He's just won 7/9 tournaments since returning - if that's not in your prime or close to it then what is?

This is his 11th season on the tour excluding 2001 and 2002. He is physically not the same force he was five years back or even three years back. Mentally, yes he still is.

If he wasn't still amazing physically he wouldn't have been able to do what he did in that RG SF vs Nole.

There's only one way Nadal can become the GOAT at this point.

CYGS. Same goes for Djokovic.

dude, really stop embarrassing yourself. I knew you were gonna come up with this 'millage' thingy. Rafa is 'still' in his prime, his age and his victories confirm this. I guess Rafa wasn't in his prime in 2009 either when he took some 'sick time' after he lost to Soderling at RG. Rafa also wasn't in his prime when he lost to Rosol last year at SW19 and conveniently took more 'sick time'. Rafa isn't in his prime only when he is losing. Nadal is somehow always 'injured' when losing ... same old story. sorry bud, I don't buy it at all.

Federer defeated injured Nadal to no.1 in 2009

didn't Nadal defeat mono Fed to no.1 in 2008?

it seems like swings and roundabouts

I'm no Fakervic fan but he needs to save tennis, sadly tree trunk legs will be fresh. Interesting he's never questioned....

How many grandslam tournaments and months from the tour did Federer miss due to "Mono"?

Federer actually plays even when he is hurt or sick. Nadal skipped the AO for what reason exactly?

Didn't want to get beat to a pulp. Keep the H2H healthy, after all H2H is what matters for the GOAT status.
