Then Federer might have 18 or more slams.

Since you are considering the inexistence of some players. If Federer had not existed then Roddick wouls probably have the same more slams than Djokovic.

And of course Roger would have won 2 CYGS in a row and 10 slams in a row if not nadal and would have 20+ slams by now.

Long way to go. Fed is leading HC h2h, HC winning %, HC winning streak, HC titles, HC matches won and HC GS of course.

this is true, but bar any injury, i believe djokovic will be competing at a high level atleast until he turns 30. this gives him a lot of time to try to approach that record.

He would need at least 2 2011-like seasons again and even then he won't touch Fed's all time records. As a Nole fan I'm being realistic here and am grateful for what he has already achieved. Still some good times to come .

Also some yet unknown youngster might appear out of nowhere and dominate the tour, although I don't see this happening too soon because of how physical the game is these days.

He is already HC GOAT, next 10 years is a fight with Nadal for title of tennis Goat. Fedmug is HC goat of choking, and together with a cow grass goat

No. As others have already stated, there is more than just grand slams to consider. Federer's other records on hard courts make him the undisputed hardcourt goat.

like what? He will approach them as he approaches the GS record, right?

And which of feds record on HC will be hardest to overcome?

Federer and Sampras only won one USO after 26.

It's hard to win multiple USOs after 26.
So who's going to win the USO from now on? Delpo?

NOVAK DJOKOVIC

Re: Could Djokovic go down as the greatest hard court tennis player of all time?

I'm surprised that I haven't seen Ivan Lendl's name mentioned on this thread yet. He made the U.S. Open final every year from 1982-1989 and won in 1985, 1986, and 1987. Meanwhile, the Australian Open changed from grass to Rebound Ace in 1988 when Lendl was 27, and he proceeded to have these results: SF (age 27), champion (28), champion (29), and runner-up (30). I always thought that Lendl's game best suited Rebound Ace and that he could have picked up a few more Majors at the Australian Open from 1982-1987 if it were held on Rebound Ace rather than grass.

I'm also curious who do you see as potential USO winners from now on seeing how Nadal will be 28, Andy and Novak 27 next year...

If anybody can do it it's Nole. No doubt that he has the potential to get 6+ AOs and 3+ USOs but it's definitely too early to say anything for certain.

btw, saying that he cannot be hc goat because of the loss to Windray is just ridiculous. everybody has ups and downs, including Federer and Sampras. If he gets to 10 slams he will be the hc goat and that is that.

Re: Could Djokovic go down as the greatest hard court tennis player of all time?

All he needs to do is win 5 more hard court slams. It'll be tough but if he's motivated and healthy he can definitely do it.
