Why Rogie can do damage the rest of 2013...

Mostly we're coming upon the faster courts the rest of 2013... grass and hardcourts of faster speeds.

Here's Rogie's rest of 2013 schedule: Halle, Wimbledon, Canada, Cincinnati, US Open, Shanghai, Basel, Paris, and London.

Rogie has won 36 of his 76 titles at these 9 events (Halle 5, Wimbledon 7, Canada 2, Cincinnati 5, US Open 5, Shanghai 0, Basel 5, Paris 1, and London/WTFs 6).

I just feel like there's no way he goes the rest of 2013 without winning a title at all.

In fact I fully expect him to win Halle this coming week to kick start things in his favor for 2013.

Now comes the time of the year when Rafa hardly wins any titles and Rogie does very well, post FO (44 of Rogie's 76 titles are post FO and 14 of Rafa's 56 titles are post FO).

Win Halle, then a deep run at Wimbledon (hopefully the big W at the big W), defend Cincy, gain points at the USO. Maybe win Paris.

Federer. Vika. Hingis.
Venus.

What rivalry? I win all the matches. [Hingis, 1998]

It's been the worst year in a lonnnnng time for Fed, he won't win Wimbledon or even make the final playing like he did at RG

Matosevic, Hanescu, Lorenzi, Kukushkin, Chiudinelli, Gulbis, Bozoljac, Gabashvili, Hernych, Brown, Garcia-Lopez, Rosol, Zeballos, Istomin, Kohlschreiber, Tursunov, Robert, Gonzalez, Monaco, Thiem, Seppi

I can for sure believe he will win a title or two, but I don't see him doing "damage"- to the big guns or being the dominant player the later half of the year, but then again I'm not clairvoyant so we shall see...

Re: Why Rogie can do damage the rest of 2013...

Fed played a pretty heavy schedule a few years ago and ended up #1.

His game is still pretty good and he's rested.
He didn't need the clay season really, clay won't help your game much(Sampras agrees ) and even Nadal has a hard court that he practices on to improve the game.

So Fed is rested physically, has his back in shape again and should be ready mentally to defend Wimbledon.

Re: Why Rogie can do damage the rest of 2013...

Well at least I can't see him doing any worse than in the first half of the year... But it will all depend on his fitness. If his back is OK he should grab a couple of big wins, and maybe save his YE spot in the top 4 (though it is hopeless if Ferrer keeps his current form). But otherwise he may very well be a non-factor for the whole season, playing like an average Top 15 and saving his ass in Top 8 only courtesy of the grateful seeding system, that does so much for declining champions. Obviously I root for the first scenario, but there's no way to know at this stage

Fed is such an enigma. Only he knows what he wants, He has all records for weeks at#1,GSs, money, family, kids .He has everything that someone would like to have in this life. He could win one or two titles maybe more if he wants. IMO Fed does not care for his ranking any more he wants to play freely without pressure , You can see what kind of fear Nadal has to not lose a match ,It is a huge pressure

If you would just stop referring to him as Rogie, that would be great.

And winning Halle, Basel or even 1 masters series, isn't really going to do 'damage' to anyone.

Djokovic | Tipsarevic | Querrey

Re: Why Rogie can do damage the rest of 2013...

watch him sweep the indoor season no doubt. Normally pre Wimbledon is Djokovic and Nadal and post Wimbledon should be Federer, Murray and Djokovic. Of course Nadal will still be no.2/3 favourite after the djoker at the USO (depending on how well he is playing)

On Murray

That's actually pretty interesting

That said, at the moment I really can't see him winning another slam atleast. The year so far hasn't been impressive, and he's put in some very questionable performances. The most notable decline of late is his movement out to his FH, just seems a step slower these days.

He really should still win a title this year, sometime. Just the gap between him and Djokovic/Nadal and even Murray seems to be getting wider.

Does it ring a bell?

“I don’t think he’ll ever play as well as he did three or four years ago – that’s not to say he can’t still win a slam, but it’s difficult to see him climbing back to number one,” Navratilova said. “Nadal is dominating and Djokovic’s confidence is off the chart. Roger has lost three matches (this season) to Djokovic and lost to him at US Open last year as well, it will get under his skin.”

As long as Federer is willing to go deep in slams, anything is possible. It will take some time, but it's just one more slam, really.
