Re: "Why you should want to see Rafa vs Nole in RG QF"

Boy we have had ENOUGH talk about this already.

Do I want them to meet in QF? Yes, better chance for Federer, and potentially for Ferrer.
Would that correctly reflect the current level of players? Definitely not, they are the two best clay players right now.
Should there still be a 25% chance of them getting in the same quarter. Yes, it's called 'rules'.

/thread.

Yes, but the rules are bent in Wimbledon. If one slam can do it then another can too.

personally, I wouldn't mind the scenario. it would be awesome if guys like Jo or Grigor could come all the way through to the finals

Personally, I'm against that Wimby thing, but they do it always (or at least for quite some time now), which is why everybody is in the same position and I guess it's kind of 'fair'.

But changing the rules to suit the tournaments rating/money needs as soon as the circumstances are problematic, would be disgraceful beyond belief. Taking Andy Murray to #5 (if they choose to go by clay results) is basically illegal, let alone taking David Ferrer out of top 4. That's just taking points away.

Grigor? Hope you are joking, mate. We will see a Llodra-Stepanek final in RG before we see that.

Re: "Why you should want to see Rafa vs Nole in RG QF"

The French would never risk Rafa having a tough draw. He's never had a tough draw in his life at RG. The French made a huge mistake putting Isner in R1, but they expected that Rafa could have handled a servebot. Let's be honest, everyone expected that.

Clueless, clueless post. 30% of the tournaments on the ATP tour are played on clay, the rest predominantly on hard. It makes sense for Wimbledon to adjust the ranking for grass, as it's a bit of a dying animal.

Not that I would expect such logic to be close to 'dullfans' thinking.

well, Jo is no stranger to playing on RG clay, in case you forgot it
as for Dimitrov, he took a set from Rafa in MC. that's not something many could do

Re: "Why you should want to see Rafa vs Nole in RG QF"

I am rooting for Rafa to play novak in the quarters. I mean why not? First it ensures they will play as chances of one getting upset prior to QF is significantly less. Second, tickets will be cheaper and on a weekday so wouldnt have to pay a leg and an arm to get a seat at Chatrier .

I don't know who wins at madrid and Rome but if Rafa plays Novak at RG ~ my guy will pull it out. You can count on it.

If Novak has to beat rafa then novak needs to play at 110% lights out. Rafa pretty much has a certain level which he maintains and will maintain. Novak needs to be at his super best to win and odds are he wont be able to sustain it over 5 sets at RG. We shall see but I am excited - and desperately need this match up at RG and a QF meeting increases the odds that it will happen.

ROGER = GOAT*

*Assumes Rafael Nadal was never born

Re: "Why you should want to see Rafa vs Nole in RG QF"

Since I want Djokovic to win the tournament, no, I don't want them to meet in the QF. And it shouldn't happen. #1 should face #7 or #8 in the QF. Not #5, specially considering that he has that ranking because of an injury and he would be #2 if it wasn't for it.
