McEnroe said Nadal's volleyes are as good as Fed's...I'll take an opinion of a multi slam winner over an opinion of trolls infesting this forum anyday

Seriously, though - volleying played an important part in this year's Wimbledon final, with the eventual champion winning over fifty points at net. So rumours of its demise have been exaggerated somewhat.

And Nadal is a better volleyer than Djokovic, clearly, although he applies it less these days than he did back in 2007/8.

Re: Better volleyer: Nadal or Djokovic

neither, they're both poor

federer, tsonga and murray are the only ones in the top 10 who i would say are good at volleying

Re: Better volleyer: Nadal or Djokovic

Hard to say. Djoker makes better use of the net in singles. Nadal literally only goes in for easy putaways. Even Ferrer goes in on worse approaches, and has to make more difficult volleys. Nadal acts like he's terrified of the net.

However, in doubles, Nadal's drop volley and reflexes are much better than Djokovic's.

He can only hit drop volleys or putaways, though. Djokovic actually attempts punch volleys.

Obvious troll, but volleying is the most underutilized skill. It's just that you can no longer suck at ground strokes and win by serving and volleying anymore.

BUt players would be MUCH better if they were like Connors, i.e. good groundstrokes and volley, with intelligent approaching. Connors had to do it, cuz his serve was shite and his groundstrokes weren't super consistent.

Nadal rarely hits bad volleys but that's becase the only times he comes to the net are for easy put-aways.

Re: Better volleyer: Nadal or Djokovic

none of them worthy to mention Edberg's name but out of the two Nadal is better. He has nice feel for drop volleys and placing it with feel rather than trying to finish off with power. That's signs of a good volleyer.

Tsonga is best in the top10 and Fed not far behind.

Nadal is one of the best net players in the game, very rarely messes up at the net, he is far better at the net than djokovic and federer.
