Roland Garros R3: Nadal fights past Fognini 7-6 6-4 6-4

A bit better from what I saw from Rafa, still not nearly good enough, but at least he had some weight on his shots again and wasn't missing one ball after another. Next up Nishikori! Come on Rafa!

Again got broken (to love) when serving for it, terrible sign. I miss the old Nadal

RG R3: Nadal blows over the Fog 7-6, 6-4,6-4

Rafa was atrocious in the first set, and should have lost it, only Fognini's patented clownery made him dodge a slow start for a third round in a row. After that, the Fog went away ,as he usually does, and he came raining UE's while Nadal level picked up a bit in a rather windy and changing conditions. Nadal marches on with the only hope that his game would start clicking for later rounds. He has been at best pedestrian-- yet to win a set with 6-2 score or less in three matches at this year Roland Garros; something probably never happened before.

Nishikori up next.

Nice match. Nadal did enough. First set was entertaining.

Djokovic must be licking his chops at the prospect of facing this Nadal in the Semis.

I wish this set would go to a tiebreak. Nadal didn't troll enough the organizers for what they did to him!

Re: RG R3: Nadal blows over the Fog 7-6, 6-4,6-4

By far the worst match I've ever seen Nadal play at Roland Garros.

Pretty disgusting that Fognini couldn't even get a set.

Very average again from Nadal.

Maybe he is just doing the Sampras, doing only as much as he needs to get through, then peaking in 2nd week.

But in this form, he will be owned in SF, he's gotta pick it up.

Comical match at times, 99 UE's in 3 sets.

Djokovic must be licking his lips.

Fognini is such a clown, he blew so many opportunities against a piss poor Nadull.

Ugh!!!!!!!!!!! Vamos should send flowers to Fognini for gifting him the first two sets Disgusting. This match only shows that Vamos' fate is sealed and like I've said before he should be gone before the quarters with the form he's been showing

Re: RG R3: Nadal blows over the Fog 7-6, 6-4,6-4

Haha so many wasted opportunities for Fog in this match, but at least he didn't give up when he lost the first which is more than I expected actually.

Fog was serving for the first set at 6*-5.

He also had double break point to break back at 4-5* in the second.

Made even more UEs in the third and still won 4 games there.

Rafa is not winning RG at this level.

Nadal was terrible, worse than the previous rounds, shame on Fognini for not taking at least one set.

15.

The scoreline looks a LOT more comfortable than it actually was. The Fog had many chances to get this to distance, just couldn't take them.
