A post that deserves to be on MTF Hall of Fame soon:

Re: One handed or two handed backhand????

One-handed, definitely.

When I was a little girl (and didn't know much about tennis), I thought a two-handed backhand was somehow inferior, so with a great deal of persistence I taught myself. I whacked one-handed backhands with an ancient, wooden men's racquet that I had found in the cellar and that probably weighed as much as I did. As a result, I can't see how anyone could do it any other way

Re: One handed or two handed backhand????

I have great respect for players who hit one-handed backhand, because I always wonder how do they manage to keep he ball in the court, in spite of all the physic priciples. It looks so weird, I always have and impression that the ball would fly far, far away.
I play two-handed and can't imagine playing one.

Re: One handed or two handed backhand????

im a double handed bh. But the one handed is suppose to be better for moving the ball about. The disadvantage of having a one handed backhand is that high deep balls are very hard to hit.

Nieminen- The lucky lefty of tennis.
Sampras- The hairy champion of tennis.
Ferrero- The mosquito of tennis.
Srichaphan- The Thai- ger of tennis.
Safin - The of tennis.
Bagdatis- The quotesman of tennis "my coach will watch, i will sleep with my girlfriend"
Kiefer- The naive guy, "yeh, me and seb are good friends"
Santoro- The double handed wizard of tennis.
Lopez- IS my hair right? IS my lipstick right?
Moya- The tatoo and muscles of tennis (although nadal kicks his ass in that department).
Tipsarevic- The tatoo of tennis, competing with moya.
Djokovic- Stole Jiri's surname

Sorry if I left out your favourite, just PM me to let me know-- thanks.

Re: One handed or two handed backhand????

I have a pretty reliable 2 handed backhand, but I'm working on developing my one-handed backhand, too. If I could only control it...
