Why is coria playing in Marseille?

Instead in his own country on clay where he has to defend a title. I don't get this.

Re: Why is coria playing in Marseille?

I remember reading somewhere Coria saying something like "it's a tough decision for me, I like the Buenos Aires toournament a lot, but I want to be a complete player and get some more experience from indoor, indoor european tournemanets".

Favourite players:

Nadal ~ Fish [Fisho] ~ Ferrero [Juancho] ~ Hewitt [Llautó] ~ Nalbandian

JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: Yes. Victories must be celebrated always.

Re: Why is coria playing in Marseille?

That sentiment is similar to what he's been saying for quite a while now. It's lose-lose on this board for Coria. If he plays and wins Buenos Aires, people whine that he's stacking up his ranking with clay court tournaments (he has, afterall, played FOUR - count them! FOUR! - clay court tournaments in the last year. I can understand the irritation!). If he doesn't do it, they complain.

Old news

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

I doubt he would use a clay event in February to prepare for the French Open which starts in the last week of May.

Is this week's event the only event in Argentina for the whole year?

Re: Why is coria playing in Marseille?

Yeah you need money to live, but some how I don't think Coria is without.

I think both he and Nalbandian should be playing in Argentina on their best surface.

Becca, who cares if they are "padding" their ranking with their favorite surface? Everyone does that.

Le Poussin! Faithfully ignoring the haters since 1995.

Re: Why is coria playing in Marseille?

All clay events not played during the clay season should be either a) moved, or b)removed completely. Personally, I think this is the better choice for Coria. When we're in the indoor/hardcourt season don't waste time on another surface only to get off of it the very next week. It's dumb. Get accustomed to the surface you'll be playing on for a while right away, you don't want to lag behind the rest of the top ranked players, who pretty much follow the surfaces properly.

Marseille offers more points, and Coria supposedly wants to show his versatility on other surfaces.

Hello, Karol, clay is not David's best surface. His game is better suited to faster surfaces the last time we checked.
