Gulbis may have a bad day and lose to anyone, but he seems to be more consistent lately, I think he can do it, but I don't think he'll have a chance in the final if he reaches it.

Re: Who will be the finalist from the bottom half?

Atm it's on Gulbis, Tsonga and Berdych racquets. Federer has been a shadow of himself since February, and Ferrer, well he just has to hope the other guys suck against him. Almagro could be a threat as well but never lived up to the occasion and is not doing well lately.

But no athlete had the year Novak Djokovic had. No athlete was as consistently superb, January through November. No athlete was as complete in all the aspects of his or her game (...) the best on all surfaces: indoors and out, hardcourt, clay, and grass. No athlete, week in and week out, faced the level of competition he did: men’s professional tennis, as gets said at the start of every big televised match—because it’s true—is in a golden age. (...) And while Federer had some year (2006), he accumulated only about half the A.T.P. point total Djokovic just amassed.

But seriously, if Gulbis gets through Berdych (will he be the betting favorite in that match?), he would be the favorite to get to the semis.

lol at federina's Holywoodgod-girl haircut.

Gulbis will have coughing fits if he reaches serverer (not unlike my own humiliating coughing spells in front of a person I hated in school).

Re: Who will be the finalist from the bottom half?

Even as a Federer fan I give more credit to Ferrer in the final.
Federer might lose to Benneteau in R3, depending on the French's form. If Benneteau is good I don't see Federer giving all he has to fight for win since Wimbledon is coming soon and considering making a FO final is most likely an useless effort for him.
Federer is expected to face Tsonga in QF. In Australian Open both played a declined level. Federer won in 5 sets and was completely tank empty. I can see a fierce 5 set thriller again but I'm not sure about the winner this time. But one thing is for sure, the winner will be tank empty to face Ferrer.
I never expect Berdych to get through such a tough draw considering Gulbis and Robredo is in good form an both a real threat to Berdych. And also Almagro is waiting in R4. If Berdych got through he will be too tired to give Ferrer any trouble.
Well even as a Fed fan I will be happy if Ferrer or Tsonga make the final. Both deserve so many years of effort and I have so much respect on both.

Re: Who will be the finalist from the bottom half?

I have a weird feeling it might be Ferrer, and that's who I put in my draw.
But expecting Ferrer to deliver in Slams is always a bad idea, and I am likely wrong.

Other odd prediction: Robredo will win the Berdych/Gulbis section

Matosevic, Hanescu, Lorenzi, Kukushkin, Chiudinelli, Gulbis, Bozoljac, Gabashvili, Hernych, Brown, Garcia-Lopez, Rosol, Zeballos, Istomin, Kohlschreiber, Tursunov, Robert, Gonzalez, Monaco, Thiem, Seppi

These are pretty much my thoughts, apart from the Benneteau part (Fed fan too). But as a French I would be really pissed off should Tsonga beat Roger and lose to Ferrer in the semis, which happens to be very likely

I'm fine with any of Federer, Ferrer, Tsonga and Gulbis getting to the final/winning the title. Have a feeling it'll be Ferrer.
