Tennisisms

There are many players on the Tour who's native language isn't English. They speak the language well, but sometimes they come up with some nice (I think non-existant) words or expressions. Post them here

Marat Safin In a pre-final (2004) interview in Melbourne he said that drinking beer CLEAN'S UP his mind.

Juanca He plays tennis from the base of the line.

I notice Spanish players using the term "tennistically". I've never heard of it.

SINCE THERE'S NO TENNIS ACTION I WENT FOR TONGUE ACTION

On a related note, it isn't uncommon to hear people use "pressurize" when they probably should use the verb "pressure." I don't think you can pressurize a person, unless you inject air into them.

"i was on the good way to win" - jcf

"i did the final" - jcf

oh ad "you know". thats a nessecary phrase for jc post match interviews.

How many times must we of shot nerves witness the undoubted pain & suffering of muppets everywhere before we stand up against the cavemen??

One muppet, who wishes to remain anonymous, has this to say: "You know, I uhhhh cannot stay all the time at the you know, base of the line. Too much uhhhh pression."

It is your turn to help - The "Save A Muppet Foundation" needs you!

Irina Spirlea - "she thinks she's the f*cking Venus Williams"

I know what she meant but it's the way she says it.

"She thinks since she's f*cking Venus Williams that..." is obviously what she was trying to say.

Re: Tennisisms

Both Moya and Ferrero have said "I won him" instead of "I beat him" when talking about past opponents or what not.

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

When we drink, we get drunk.
When we get drunk, we fall asleep.
When we fall asleep, we commit no sin.
When we commit no sin, we go to heaven.

Re: Tennisisms

Hrbaty described federer blocking back his opponents booming serves by saying "he just puts his hand there". Hrbaty butchers the english language.
strycova said of myskina "she's very quickly" instead of "she can run fast".

Dominik Hrbaty? There are probably six alphabets that spell that, and it's legend. Dominik is Dominik and he's a legend in every little town, city and village across the globe.

He doesn't only stand for our sport, but he stands for mankind. His athleticism, him as a person, as a human being, his character, to go out and do things his way, is just fantastic. And that is the charm about Dominik Hrbaty.
