Re: US Open Quarter Finals!

Weird, no-one thinks Pete would beat Lendl at their peak so far

Re: US Open Quarter Finals!

Lendl's eight consecutive finals at USO is one of the most underrated achievements, but having said that, at his peak, he lost finals to Wilander and Becker. He also lost to a teen-aged Sampras in 90. So I just don't see a peak Sampras losing this match.

Borg, Connors were before my time but knowing that Borg could never get over the hump at USO (was he bothered by the conditions?), I can see Federer, in his 2004 Final form, edging Borg.

The other two are real tossups, esp. McEnroe-Edberg. Peak McEnroe is as talented as any player, and Edberg played one of the greatest matches of all time in 1991 USO Final against Courier.

Re: US Open Quarter Finals!

I'd also think that Pete would beat Lendl, and Federer would beat Borg because Borg could never really do that well at the US Open.

I'd also go for Agassi over Connors, but I can't pick a winner of McEnroe-Edberg. That's a toss up.
