That anyone could think this was about an appearance fee is beyond belief. Clearly there are other issues. Perhaps those issues won't make Fed out to be a saint; perhaps it's still an epic ego battle between two rich men and their business interests. But at least don't say it's about a silly appearance fee.

But the trolls will continue to repeat the same old cliches and frustrated fans who think they can persuade them will continue to bark at the moon.

Re: Brennwald:"Federer refused our offer"

It is not about the fee but Basel needs a sponsor and Federer wants to buy this tournament. That is the problem if Federer likes to go for more money he can play in Asia .Recently Fed refused an offer of $ 1 mills to play ATP250 in France and TD got angry at him.

Re: Brennwald:"Federer refused our offer"

The obvious question is why the hometown boy even needs an appearance fee for his local tournament?

It is astonishing that Federer has tried to hold a gun to the head of the organisers in order to demand more money. Clearly his ego is out of control and he has assumed they will bow down to his ridiculous demands because were he need to be playing that would be a disaster for the organisers.

Evidently it has backfired.

you don't get it. he could refuse $10 million and Fedhaters would still squawk the same crap in here like parrots who only learned one line. Facts and logic don't matter.

Re: Brennwald:"Federer refused our offer"

Nadal is the one who chases the money and points. Who went to play three tournaments in SA as #5 against players who are below #70 . Rafa complains of hard courts a lot but wants to play Basel

That's not true either...I dunno why he is playing Basel, I guess it's because he wants to make an attempt at WTF this year, but the south American swing was just for practice, after all he returned from injury. Probably wanted some clay action before the clay season.

Re: Brennwald:"Federer refused our offer"

I know MTF is a place consisting of a lot of haters, fools and the likes who try to satisfy their own egos by virtually masturbating to their own fantasies no matter how far fetched they are but sometimes one just goes....FFS.

I've read from ''Eden'' that Federer isn't even asking for money. So what's the problem ?
Isn't that a very generous thing to do ? Why is the tournament still moaning and b1tching about this ?
Why are the people still assuming Fed refused their offer because it wasn't enough money ?
Also...why did Federer turn down the 1st offer because it was not enough and didn't reply to the 2nd offer but then strangely plays Basel without any fee ? This one puzzles me.

It's embarrassing that you think he doesn't care.
