If not Del Potro, then who? Even if you don't rate Del Potro, SOMEONE must be the fifth best player in the world.

MTF games titles:

Suicide Tennis (5): Wimbledon 2014, World Tour Finals 2015, Madrid 2015, Kuala Lumpur 2014 and Metz 2015 - 1 Slam, 1 WTF, 1 Masters 1000, 2 ATP 250; 2 finals lost

Fill-in-the-Draw (3): US Open 2014, Rotterdam 2013 and Geneva 2015 - 1 Slam, 1 ATP 500 and 1 ATP 250

Tennis Tipping (3): Veneza and Todi 2014 (with vn01), Knoxville 2015 (with Redkop) - 3 challengers; 7 finals lost

Stanislas is the real fifth best player in the world. You could argue his case for being the real number 2, since he has a higher peak level than his fellow Swiss compatriot Roger Federer...

This was never about peak level...

Players I support for non-tennis reasons: Murray/Ferrer/Monaco/Nadal/Isner/Li

del Potro/Nalbandian/Safin
Tsonga/Gulbis/Monfils/Dolgopolov/Verdasco
Davydenko/Kyrgios/Cilic/Muguruza

del Potro > Wawrinka, hands down. Stan dismantling Vulture was nice, but he played even better last year vs JMDP and still lost.

Certainly does.

In fact he already has the title of the Swiss Number 1 in the bag this year. More titles than Fed, probably more points gained too.... lol.

He has a better claim than Ferrer, but the answer is still a resounding no. del Potro is the fifth best player in the world. It doesn't even matter if he's injured half the time, he's still the only player outside the current top 4 with a combination of game and mental strength to do some real damage.

Lenders Ferrer showing once again today why he is a choker and vulture of the highest order. Delpo would never have choked that way and he doesn't care for vulturing smaller events. Hence he is a much better player.

Del Potro we last saw trying to cheat vs. Nieminen in Monaco, with a medical timeout at 4-5 in a 3rd set TB

Hardly becoming of a #5 in the world. And if it is, then being #5 in the world isn't much to write home about.

Highly ironic coming from a dull fan.

Negative. He could have halted Nieminen's momentum as the empire told him they could wait for the trainer if he wanted, but he didn't...

And you don't think being the fifth best tennis player in the world is something to write home about ? Especially when you have a Slam to your name to back it up and have gone through so many hardships with injuries.

Joke of a rule in the first place. Ridiculous that you are allowed to do that. He lost justifiably.

If you read this place, you'd think Ferrer was the worst player of all time and he is #5

All I can say is I would never take a MTO at 4-5 in a TB.
