Precisely like last year. I hope he proves me wrong. Considering his lackluster start to the year, I have ever right to be somewhat dubious when predicting Federer at Wimbledon.

When he's on, he can beat anyone. So lets hope so, i'd be happy with just a title first, let alone a slam!

Re: Federer to win a slam this year.

Had to be done with this silly thread asking if Murray is the favourite at Wimbledon.

Federer: Future number one.

Fed vs Rafa

Wimbledon: 7-2
U.s open: 5-2
AO: 4-1
FO 1-9
WTF: 6-0
Weeks at number one: 302-140(about)

Really no contest

Affirmative. I have already stated that he will win the USO. It is inevitable.

Re: Federer to win a slam this year.

he may or may not win a slam this year but i firmly believe he will put himself into position to do so and there will be a point here and there resulting in wins or losses, as even in 2011 his worst slam year since 2002 he had chances to win or be in more finals. he could win the french, or more likely wimbledon. uso is confusing as if its as slow as last year he will loose to the other big 4 members but if its as quick as say cincinati he would be favourite. i think federer has 2 or 3 slams left in him whether he wins anymore its a mystery. because if he somehow wins the french he could get on a role and win wimbledon you know a win could set off a chain reaction

he might not even win another title. The old man rarely plays anymore. And he says his rest was short. lol

Re: Federer to win a slam this year.

Playing on clay is taking away from grass court tennis practice.. Its understandable that he plays madrid but rome seems a bit pointless.

I understand he needs to play roland garros but realistically if he had two tune up events like halle and the 250 event after that before wimbledon thats where all his focus should be to give him the best chance to win wimby

yes, he can and may, i would never foolish enough to write him off

Rafa! Rafa! Rafa!

Epic movies, like brokeback mountain, are seldom found in the industry or worthy for the mainstream viewer. As often as I have watched the clips of this movie, I always find something more to it. For one, the gay stuff doesn't enter the picture for me, only the dimension of the highest love I have ever witnessed in life or on film.

Re: Federer to win a slam this year.

Fed vultures Wimbledon when the top players
don't show up or have the worst years of their lives (despite
winding up at number 1...LMAO).
Vulturerer could barely scrape past a weak Nadal,
a clueless n-er-do-well 208-pound Stiffy Roddick, journeyman Falla, injured doubles specialist Benneteau & stagnant 29 year old Sampras.
That's a "winning GOAT".

Re: Federer to win a slam this year.

Fed started strong last year and barely survived Benneteau in Wimbledon
This year he'll probably mug out in QF for Wimby, get to SF in RG and USO.

Re: Federer to win a slam this year.

You could somehow feel that Fed decided, or just felt it's time to call it a day after the WTF 2012, as far as great expectations are concerned. He played on a high level in London and still lost.

Everything he wins after that is just a nice bonus. The guy has little to prove, loves the game so much he will play just for the sake of it and his fans should be grateful for that and lower their expectations accordingly.

That said, his best chance remains Wimby, of course. He is the defender of the crown.

Nose winning a slam this year? Maybe in mixed doubles if Hingis manages to stay sober for 2 weeks.

Re: Federer to win a slam this year.

I think many will be surprised by the form he displays at RG. Despite it being the hardest surface for him to win on now, he could very well turn on the jets and put together a great fortnight in Paris.
