Players in Number 1 in singles and doubles at the same time?

Which players got Number 1 in singles and doubles at the same time?

Only John Mcenroe?

Kostas Kastoria is the King, is the Legend, is the Pantheon of Tennis Tipping.

Saulin, Felipin and Niltin are the players that have the mission to continue the Greek Legacy.

There is a thread about this already. But yeah JMac is probably the prime example and the latest. Kafelnikov and Edberg were fine doubles players as well, Kafelnikov won RG singles and doubles at the same tournament IIRC, just not sure if he was nr.1 at the same time in both fields. Edberg was nr.1 in each but not simultaneously I think.

The further back you go, the more likely it is that you have great players excelling in both fields. The legendary aussies won a lot of Grand Slams in both singles and doubles.

After Nadal beat Monfils at Doha, before AO 2014

Only Del Potro can take him out before the semis, and he won't. Nadal is winning the AO, bet your house on it.

Re: Players in Number 1 in singles and doubles at the same time?

Edberg never was in doubles Top 10 after 1988., but he was single number 2 and doubles number 1 at same point, and at really young age too

In late 1996. Kafelnikov was singles number 3 and doubles number 5, he will for good be last player who won both titles at one Major, also last player with at least 25 ATP titles in singles and doubles

At the age of 18 Boris Becker was number 4 in singles and number 6 in doubles, also nice score for a kid

For older players, problem is we don't have doubles ranking, but in the 70's there were many great single/doubles players. Stan Smith won more than 35 ATP titles in both singles and doubles, with also more than 550 match wins in both categories

doubles is an arcade game for old people. Real players are for singles. Real battles
