Re: Indian Wells R2: Djokovic fights the fog from Fognini 6-0 5-7 6-2

Djokovic said "it's all my fault." During the on court interview. He should feel that way. He went on a walkabout and Fognini got all fired up by his anger at the umpire and played better and hurt Djoko with the forehand again and again. I thought getting broken would wake Nole up, but he had let Fognini gain too much momentum. It was frustrating to watch.

Nothing surprising here. Nole has the tendency these days of anhilating his rivals in the first and third sets and produce a mental walkabout in the second. It's always the second, maybe he relaxes too much? because he knows once he wins the first the match is in the bag. Its' pretty obvious where his concentration goes.

Novak Djokovic nº1!

Re: Indian Wells R2: Djokovic fights the fog from Fognini 6-0 5-7 6-2

I wouldn't wholly blame Novak for losing the set 5-7. It's almost a combination of things: motivation to overcome embarrassment from losing the set 0-6 and the winner has to deal with the pressure of keeping the opponent smothered.

Take Fed and Novak's Cincinnati meeting earlier this year: Novak was bageled and managed to push the 2nd set to a tiebreak. Sometimes, it's just too hard (i.e. mentally exhausting) to keep the pressure on. And when it comes to the person that's losing: there's no where to go but up.

I'm perfectly fine with talking about Nadal. I don't think the mods would greatly appreciate it if we did it in a Djokovic def. Fognini thread.

what's the purpose of bringing Querrey into this thread then?

It was about Djokovic losing focus after winning the first set 6-0, and just so you know it wasn't brought up by me, but I think you'll find that result has a lot in common with this match and therefore entirely relevant. I just mentioned I found that a funny loss which apparently was enough for that zcess poster to launch a meaningless attack on me by bringing up Nadal's losses. Yeah, very relevant

Agreed.
Querrey, Rosol, Fognini, Zebalos, Dodig, they are all relevant for a good, healthy tennis discussion regardless of the thread

Lmao people argue over irrelevant shit way too easily on here, someone pass the blunt already lol.

OT- Now that I've seen the highlights, it was, as a few in this thread said, sloppy from Djok second set. Got punished for coasting too early. Still wrapped it up without much fuss in the 3rd though.

As a Dimi fan though it doesn't bode well, Nole's probaly got the hiccups out his system now and won't let up against Grigor. Hope I'm proved wrong though!

but, but, we (his fans) need Nole to win everything 6:0 6:1 (OK, maybe 6:2) ... our Godovic is not allowed to lose a set to someone like Mugnini . I feel embarrassed .

According to Noletards most of the time Djokovic demolishes his opponent in the first set then he can't be bothered and gifts the second.
