Re: The Live ATP Rankings Thread

Slasher... curious... do you ever get responses when you notify ATP of errors? I have found 3 (I think) and they don't respond and don't correct them.

I did receive responses in the past. Not right now though.

What errors have you found?

Re: The Live ATP Rankings Thread

Most glaring: Go to Player: Jimmy Connors, Player activity, 1973, Washington Indoor. He lost the Quarter final, but played the next round. (No. This was not a round robin.) (The draw is here: http://www.atpworldtour.com/share/ev...d=6835&Draw=ms) There are a few draws a year that look like this one: http://www.atpworldtour.com/share/ev...d=6836&Draw=ms SOMETIMES you can mentally shift up (or down) a round and figure it out. Sometimes not. Tourney start dates are a mess. I have found a handful where a player is playing in two tournaments at the same time. (Most recently last night... Borg is in Tucson and Palm Springs... both supposedly started 4-1-74.) There are even inconsistencies between the start dates in the "player activity" and "draws," which is surprising because you would think that the start dates would have been pulled in from the same place. One that might not be an error... but it sure looks funny: check out Roanoke, 1972. TWO people in the tournament? (Funny... both got a first round bye then played in the final.)

Ah, the draw errors. Yes, most painful errors there are. Plus, ATP doesn't have the correct data to their draws. I have corrected dozens of draws in order to have my recalculated rankings be correct.

If you don't mind my asking... where do you get your data for draws?

2. Oscar Hernandez Perez has not been inserted into the rankings after accessing the QF of the Cambodia F1 tournament.
ATP have answered to both these questions.

1. Egor Gerasimov received no point loss for his default, because it was a punctuality default (M.Computer Points and Prize Money Section 3. Defaults/Withdrawals):
Quote:
Any player or team who is defaulted shall lose all prize money, hospitality
and points earned for that event at that tournament, unless:

i) The player or team was defaulted for a Violation of the
Punctuality or Dress and Equipment sections of the Code of
Conduct
2. Oscar Hernandez was introduced in the rankings.

From old magazines and diverse other comparing facilities, like the ITF website. Most of them, I get from people who decide to help me (thank you Litotes).

Re: The Live ATP Rankings Thread

Is it just me who the live rankings aren't working for or is there a problem?

Seems not to be working for me either. The time of latest update is new, but no points are added from this week. Looks like a problem. Slasher said he'd be back the 6th so I guess we'll have to do without updates this week, unless it corrects itself somehow.

.
(November 6st)
ST rank 47 (best 1) - 13 wins, 3 titles (Paris 2014, Madrid + Vienna 2015) YE rank: 16 - 1 - 22 - 47

Same for me, I just wanted to check it wasn't just down to my computer, which has had more than a few quirks in recent times.

Re: The Live ATP Rankings Thread

I apologize for all inconveniences caused by the lack of vision by the system when it came to the New Year's week. Repairs are under way and the system should be back to work in a few hours.

Re: The Live ATP Rankings Thread

Any idea why Federer and Nadal aren't able to make use of their Masters 1000 Commitment reduction in the rankings? Nadal definately has played more than 600 matches, so he should be able to count his 150 points in Vina del Mar instead of his 0-pointer in Miami. Same for Federer, though his non-counted result is a 1st round exit in Gstaad, but still.

The Masters reduction does not apply to rankings. Usually, a player who fails to play all his commitment tournaments is fined. Federer and Nadal are exempted from being fined, but still get penalties in the rankings for skipping Masters.
