peppita is always a good source of information.

ASI Director-General Gautam Sengupta said the list of India's treasures held abroad was "too long to handle" and there was a need for a "diplomatic and legal campaign" for their restitution from institutions, including the British Museum, the Royal Collection and the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.

I think Nadal is the only big four player to commit to the Tokyo/Beijing week. Maybe they're holding out to jack up their acceptance fees.

Agassi | Nadal
Almagro | Coria | Ferrer | Haas | Nalbandian | Nishikori | Robredo | Wawrinka
Bautista Agut | Bellucci | Blake | Dimitrov | Dodig | Ferrero | Fognini | Gasquet | Hewitt | Kohlschreiber | Murray | Raonic | Rosol | Seppi | Tsonga | Tursunov | Verdasco

Re: Can someone help me understand the rankings?

Commitment players (top 30 in 2012 year-end ranking) can count their best six (6) results from ATP World Tour 500, ATP World Tour 250 and other events (Challengers, Futures, Davis Cup, Olympics) toward their ranking. To count their best six (6), players must have fulfilled their commitment to 500 events - 4 total per year (at least 1 after the US Open).

MC is counted as 500 tournament so he needs 3 more to avoid zero penalty for any of those not played? Someone more informed will have to confirm.
If I understood well if he indeed does not play any more 500 tournaments till the end of the year he will be able to count only 14 of them towards his points. Basically he needs to play 2 more to be able to count MC, Brisbane and Queens points for year end rankings. Atm he would only be able to count one of them.
Again, someone with more knowledge...feel free to tell me if I'm wrong.

That's Djokovic

On topic: com. players 'have' to have 4 500s(+MC) tournaments per year. For every one of the 4 they don't play, they get a year long 0-pointer which can not be replaced. They don't need to count the points, just play the tournament. Assume that Murray plays only Tokyo until the end of the year, that's 2 500s for this year, 4-2=2. He'll get 2 0-pointers. Players have 6 spots for non-mandatory tournaments, 6-2=4. He'll have 4 places left to count his 4 best results (point wise), not counting mandatory tournaments.

Djokovic | Tipsarevic | Querrey

Re: Can someone help me understand the rankings?

So as it stands he would only count MC, Queens and Brisbane.

I don't know why he doesn't just vulture a few 500's.

He schedules according to what he thinks gives him the best chances of winning big tournaments. A couple of zero pointers obviously doesn't bother him.

Re: The Live ATP Rankings Thread

Also, please tell me how this runs on your computers. If we can't embed Excels into the OP, at least I may replace the OP link to full list with this thing, so that users are not forced to download the Excel spreadsheet every time they want to see the rankings.

I only ask how well can you see the rankings in the link provided in my previous post and my signature. You should be able to search for players using it.
