Nadal will skip IW and Miami UPDATE - confirms will play IW

I don't like it and I really don't know what to think about this any more. Too many guys here have seen it coming. Rafa can't just play on clay and run away from HC for God's sake. I'm not questioning his knees, I simply don't understand what's happening with him.

This is confirmed right now? Or still speculation?

After Nadal beat Monfils at Doha, before AO 2014

Somewhere out there, there is a homeless person who once took betting advice from GSMnadal

Re: Nadal will skip IW and Miami

"according to Spanish sports daily Marca"

Alex this is not the first time it happens to you but those had already been posted in another thread :

Nadal still in pain, not 100 per cent

so far, it's only an article from Marca which Scoobs and JustlikeHeaven mentioned this morning, and since then Toni has denied that they had taken a decision.

It seems likely but nothing confirmed yet.

Re: Nadal will skip IW and Miami

Still only speculation at the moment ... absolutely no official word from the Nadal camp and no quotes in the article in Marca today. Surprised ESPN have made that statement since it isn't based in fact (not yet anyway).

There's no smoke without fire though ... so whoever wrote the piece in Marca may have heard a whisper or they just thought it would be good fun to 'speculate'.

ESPN put this:
Quote:
Rafael Nadal has opted to miss the first Masters 1000 events of the season in Indian Wells and Miami as his troubles with a persistent knee injury continue.
The 11-time grand slam champion, who plays the third tournament of his comeback after seven months on the sidelines in Acapulco this week, has decided to play only on clay courts between now and the French Open in May, according to Spanish sports daily Marca.
Based on this item in the Spanish version of Marca (they quote NO source).
Quote:

Tbh, given the situation, it would make zero sense for him to play there, what can he gain? IW and Miami are the end of spring HC season which he skipped anyway, so why not going straight to MC?

“There’s so many athletes, tennis players around the world,” he continued, trying to put his life into some kind of perspective, “they want to be the best in what they do. They want to succeed. Many of them, they don’t succeed in the end. I’m fortunate to have this opportunity and succeed.”

the tone of the article in Marca doesn't look like speculation : the journalist is very affirmative.

But yes there's no quote, no official confirmation from Nadal's camp of any kind, so far only a denial from Toni.
