That's pretty much why I appreciate watching him. It's just pure genius.

Kei was lucky to have won the last point on Lopez's error as he seemed to have injured his elbow right before the MP.

Anyway, another ATP 500 title!!!

The next step for him is to break through in Master Series then we can talk about his slam prospects.

To the future!

Nishikori, Berankis, Raonic, Kuznetsov, Dimitrov, Coric

Nishikori has lethal ROS, and he is solid off both wings. If he improves his serve and fitness, he can win a slam for sure.

How about his return of serve? Check the Tokyo final where he completely dismantled the Raonic serve to bagel him for reference.

His main flaws are his serve (which he should work as hard as possible to improve), his natural lack of power (not much can be done about that and it's not that huge an issue) and how much he struggles when he's forced to defend - in matchups where he cannot take the initiative on a regular basis (Del Potro, Federer...) he looks completely clueless out there; he can't operate from defensive positions as most of his defensive shots land way too short. At his height and speed, he should really look to improve his defensive shotmaking and defense to offense transition imo.

MTF games titles:

Suicide Tennis (5): Wimbledon 2014, World Tour Finals 2015, Madrid 2015, Kuala Lumpur 2014 and Metz 2015 - 1 Slam, 1 WTF, 1 Masters 1000, 2 ATP 250; 2 finals lost

Fill-in-the-Draw (3): US Open 2014, Rotterdam 2013 and Geneva 2015 - 1 Slam, 1 ATP 500 and 1 ATP 250

Tennis Tipping (3): Veneza and Todi 2014 (with vn01), Knoxville 2015 (with Redkop) - 3 challengers; 7 finals lost

As easy as expected Lopez was lucky to reach the final and he should be more than pleased with this performance

Congrats Kei

his serve is his main flaw, i agree, ofc he returns well, or very well sometimes, but guys of his height were able to do more harm with their serves, even coria at some point was regularly hitting aces, let alone agassi

Is that two 500 titles he has now? How many has the next big thing Raonic got?

I believe Nishikori has also made a GS QF? Raonic must have many more than one though, I assume.

Anyone with half a brain knows that Nishikori is the more talented of the two, and the only reason he hasn't broke through properly yet is his fitness issues.
