End of an Era

Not long ago, Djokovic-Federer-Nadal-Murray supremacy seemed to be untouchable, but Nadal injury and comeback with Fed recent results are pretty good sign that we are witnessing “End of an Era”.
I wouldn’t be surprised seeing Nadal doing great at RG or Fed going far in Wimby but that's pretty much all.
To be fair to 2 great athletes; they have achieved a lot; but this year will mark their “Swansong” to it and unless some of the young guns arise suddenly; the only great rivalry excepted is between Djokovic and Murray.
Hoping that Soderling will come back or likes of Del Potro or Berdych will do better is probably the only real threat to them.

Re: End of an Era

Soderling will not come back and you can't expect anything from Tomas or Jo.. tennis is in deep trouble without Rafa and Fed, cause you don't have young players that can achieve something before 23 or 24

what he meant is that their matches are boring. Doesnt matter how many times they play, if anything that makes it worse

Well... with Fed and Nadal decline expect this to become regular.
Now shoot me for saying this; but even I am not Andy's supporter I was big Lendl fan and yes I was
enjoying seeing (everybody's favourite) McEnroe getting hammered

Re: End of an Era

agree for the "end of an era" but it started last year.

Tsonga, Berdych and Ferrer are no match for top 4. I don't think Tsonga can be better than hes been last years, hes done the most he could do. Berdych can only beat Federer in GS and is no real threat to recent US-AO finalists.
Ferrer is Ferrer. That leaves only Del Potro, who is young and can still hope to find back his peak level.

Jverweij is right, Djokovic/Murray may have the best tennis today but their matches are dull.

Yeah I fear you will be right. But I was kind of done with Fed and Rafa aswell, so atleast they will fade away now. I'm really hoping for other players to raise their game.

I don't care if they play each other in the second round of qualifying at a Burundi futures or the Wimbledon final, it's just a boring match up, regardless of the setting/context.

Re: End of an Era

People are jumping the gun here. nadal is playing just his 2nd tournament after a 7 month injury layoff. Roger lost a match to Benneteau playing utter crap, the worst I've seen form him since 2010 post-AO. He was uninterested and didn't give a crap about the match. There was no fire in his eyes but I think that will change when he plays the slams, WTF and some masters 1000.

I believe that the majority of the slams will end up with Djokovic and murray but Roger at Wimbledon and nadal at RG are always factors to win the title.
