Greg Rusedski will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on the heel injury which forced him out of Britain's recent Davis Cup clash with Thailand.
The British number two sustained the injury during his third-round defeat to Pete Sampras in the US Open in September.
Rusedski had already been forced out of this week's CA Trophy in Vienna, and had the problem operated on in Germany on Monday.
He will now miss the remaining Tennis Masters Series events in Madrid and Paris and the season-ending Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai.
"The injury which kept Greg Rusedski out of the recent Davis Cup tie has resulted in surgery," confirmed a spokeswoman for the player on Monday.
"His left foot was operated on in Munich today and this will mean he will not be competing for the rest of the season."
